Another cup London derby, following ties against Watford, West Ham and Arsenal on the way to the semis. No easy route, for sure, though Chelsea’s hasn’t been too simple either, having beaten Liverpool, Derby and Bournemouth on the way.

What I wouldn’t give for the same performance as the last time we locked horns, from both sides. We gave them a footballing lesson at their place, quickly gaining a two goal lead via the mercurial Dele Alli and the chief One Of Our Own, before Son’s incredible run and dribble to make the lead three. If Luiz had at least made some kind of effort to not look incredibly useless in trying to stop him, it might have been considered as a goal of the season contender. Giroud got his obligatory consolation goal in the latter stages, as he always does against us. Let’s hope Luiz plays, and Giroud doesn’t.

Here’s our lot…..

Likey, likey.

Not interested. Manchester City are a fake team built on the whims of a sugar daddy. Their results and achievements are pointless. In that world the richest owner wins the trophies. If the boss of Amazon chose to buy a football team like Orient he would win everything with his personal fortune of 125 billion dollars within a few short years. He could afford to pay people to come and support the ‘O’s.

This is the reality we live in now. If football was serious about fostering genuine competition they would have a salary cap. But they are not

        • Chauvelin 09/01/2019 at 11:15 pm

Not Spurs and not Arsenal. The one thing that binds us together is what we have, is built on adhering the spirit of the laws governing football. No shady deals, no money laundering. No bribing EUFA to ward off the sanctions that ought to strip City of 20 points, last year’s title, and a CL ban, at a minimum.

          • GDawg 09/01/2019 at 11:21 pm

A ban on player transfers for 2 years would be good for starters.

On the subject of finance, why are Spurs routinely cited as having the biggest debt in English football? I’ve seen figures of 675 million debt bandied about due to the new stadium.

Have people ready forgotten that according to the Guardian, in May:

‘Chelsea FC plc’s ultimate parent company is Fordstam Limited, and boasts a debt of around Β£1.1bn in the form of an interest-free loan from Abramovich, theoretically repayable on 18 months’ notice.’

Since when does that get ignored? And for that king’s ransom, Chelsea have a really shite stadium, with a piddling capacity of 41,631, the newest part of which is 20 years old and most is much older. Whilst for our debt we now have a glittering asset, a state of the art temple which will make their place look like an outside toilet.

    • Freund or Foe 10/01/2019 at 7:56 am

They bought the flashy sports car first. Yet they still haven’t paid a penny off it, and the garage to put it in isn’t financially viable, so it’s sitting on the driveway losing value and getting rusty.

The bit I don’t get that I keep reading is due to police concerns the first game shouldn’t be Arsenal ffs does this mean the fixture next season will be played at Wembley due to the same concerns? Surely this is a load of tosh?

    • foeorfreund 10/01/2019 at 11:39 am

It probably comes from the same source that claims Tobes release clause excludes Arsenal.

      • McG ⚽⚽ 10/01/2019 at 1:24 pm

That’s a great clause tho, should be part of all future player contracts imo.

    • 61 Spurs Nut 🌰 10/01/2019 at 11:44 am

Whatever our first match it will be a sell-out, so it can’t possibly make any difference.

      • Caspurs 10/01/2019 at 12:41 pm

The decision is based on the potential for trouble between both sets of fans, same as it would be if it were spam or the racists. I’m sure the police would prefer to be up to speed and familiar with the venue first, before they had to deal with one of these high risk fixtures. There will no doubt be teething problems at the new abode that will need ironing out, I believe all the authorities want is the chance to recognise and deal with them before they have to deal with a high risk fixture such as the arse game. Personally I can understand the decision, the last thing the club or the police want is for anything bad to happen, which may have otherwise been avoidable.

        • wasdanspurs 10/01/2019 at 1:24 pm

Totally agree. Didn’t a revamp of the South Stand open with a visit of theirs during Sugar’s time and they did a load of damage? Also, I was in the away end at Highbury when they opened a revamp of the clock end (I think) and all the pictures the nice shiny suits took on the pitch in front of the stand before the game would have been full of Spurs fans giving the finger. I don’t want them anywhere near the first fixture.

  • Levymealone 10/01/2019 at 12:35 pm

VAR – for a start change the offside law to relate solely to the line of the feet – at present a player can be offside if his little finger is poking out while the rest off his body is ‘in line’. That is ridiculous.

    • foeorfreund 10/01/2019 at 12:38 pm

No quite. Only parts of the body that can legitimately score a goal can be deemed offside. So everything apart from arms.
But I get your point re feet.

      • Chauvelin 10/01/2019 at 12:46 pm

Really? So the player could be facing his own goal but bending over mooning the other goalie, so his backside would be offside.

        • Caspurs 10/01/2019 at 12:47 pm

          Yep.

          • Chauvelin 10/01/2019 at 12:49 pm

            Clears that one up…😊

    • Caspurs 10/01/2019 at 12:46 pm

I totally agree, feet it should be.

      • McG ⚽⚽ 10/01/2019 at 1:26 pm

Yeah, would also make VAR decisions a hell of a lot easier to clear up too.

        • UnkleTaff 10/01/2019 at 2:18 pm

Or we could just not bother with VAR at all and let the match officials decide.

          • McG ⚽⚽ 10/01/2019 at 2:45 pm

            That would be my preference!

    https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11603689/tottenham-want-hoffenheim-midfielder-florian-grillitsch

Poch “Daniel, I would be bery appy if you got me Grillitsch”.

A simple misunderstanding which was thankfully realised before we sent the money to Villa.

    • Chauvelin 10/01/2019 at 3:27 pm

We appear to be interested in many, many midfielders. But we need a place for Foyth in our CL squad so we need to free up a non-homegrown slot.

      • Caspurs 10/01/2019 at 3:33 pm

More spaces will become available soon enough, Janssen, Llorente, No’clue, Vorm, Wagamama (possibly), Tobes (maybe).
        Simples.

        • foeorfreund 10/01/2019 at 3:42 pm

Even if they aren’t sold in this window, I reckon we could find that extra space for Foyth by omitting Wanyama or Vorm from the CL squad. It would make sense.
If Dembele goes, I don’t think we’ll replace him until Wanyama goes too, for fear of blocking Skipp’s path. Skipp wouldn’t have got a game if Dembele, Wanyama and Dier weren’t injured, and he’s taken his chance well.

  • Freund or Foe 10/01/2019 at 4:19 pm

    Dear Mr Foe,

Thank you for contacting Chelsea Football Club. The feedback we receive, whether positive or critical, is always appreciated.

Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour abhorrent and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or Chelsea members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them.

As you note, this blog is not directly affiliated with Chelsea FC and so, whatever our thoughts on the content, we have little control over its publication.

We were heartened to see so many fan groups, including the Chelsea Supporters Trust and We Are The Shed, unite under the #ChelseaTogether campaign ahead of this week’s Spurs match to encourage fellow fans to abstain from engaging in discriminatory behaviour. The campaign was entirely organic and supporter-led, and we believe it showed the true face of the overwhelming majority of Chelsea supporters.

Thank you again for getting in touch.

    Best regards,
    CFC Enquiries

    • 61 Spurs Nut 🌰 10/01/2019 at 4:34 pm

I hope that final paragraph is a sign of things to come.

  • Freund or Foe 10/01/2019 at 4:44 pm

    To whom it may concern,

Many thanks for your prompt reply, it is much appreciated, as are the clubs efforts to put a stop to discrimination.
Chelsea FC may not be directly affiliated with this site, but the site does advertise for the Chelsea Foundation. I find it difficult to understand why such a good cause would be associated with a site that has quite obvious discriminatory views.

I understand that there is little you can do with regards to the article, but I would hope that you would endeavour to break any association with this site. Otherwise, it feels very much like an endorsement when a Chelsea Foundation advert can be seen directly adjacent to such underhand antisemitic views.

    Kind regards

    Mr Foe

I’m attempting to kick out sugar from my diet this year. I puposefully got through all my xmas choccy by end of boxing day, and have so far gone without a single chocolate bar (which is really good for me). I’ve had two desserts, one being on new years eve (so that don’t count), I now have to find the strength to give up pizza (usually a Friday night takeaway), I’ve even swapped drinking cordial for water. Most of this I’m actually finding manageable, apart from the pizza πŸ™ Also cutting down on none home cooked food, trying to stick to once a week tops. Trying to lose a bit of belly fat that’s been coming along. Anyone else giving something up for new years??!

    • Chauvelin 10/01/2019 at 10:57 pm

That’s commendable McG. The sad fact is, the major impact of sugar had been known about for 50 years, but those scientists who tried to flag it up were slagged off and subject to bitter attacks on their credibility and reputations by the good industry. The seminal work was ‘Pure, White and Deadly’ by Professor John Yudkin of London University in the 70s. After publishing, his name was dragged through the mud and rubbished, most virulently in the USA I’m afraid to say. Coca-Cola, Pepsi and the rest have a lot of diebetes to answer for.

Good going, McG. I somehow managed to squeeze an extra stone on last year, on top of the extra stone I picked up for free the year before. No alcohol so far this year for me, as that’s my trigger for all sorts of other binges with food. Other than spurs results, been a pretty miserable start to the year. πŸ™Š 🍻 ☺

  • AntSpurs 10/01/2019 at 11:06 pm

Yeah, the idea behind it is you indulge for the whole day, eat everything and drink everything you want, make yourself sick in the shit . Also psychologically the feeling that you are never going to have it again makes you want it more (well I say you , we are not all the same of course and some prefer giving up completely ) , getting it out of your system knowing you can return can make it a lot easier to stick to . So once a month a whole large pizza with all the trimming , 2 litres of fat coke (coca cola) wings , garlic bread, choccies the lot . Indulge

I don’t fear or feel that United will win, or are bigger than us (I apprecate on paper they are), but having watched Eriksen the other night, it brought back memories of his performances the last time his contract was up for negotiation, & they weren’t good. I hope we aren’t in for similar, cos if that’s the case, he can do one as far as I’m concerned.

    • Chauvelin 11/01/2019 at 11:44 am

That crossed my mind too. Eriksen’s a bit of a fragile flower, it seems if he gets distracted he really goes off his game. I’m thinking he will sign another contract but Eriksen’s people are negotiating something like a clause in there if a certain club (RM) comes up with Levy’s asking price.

      • Ronwol1960-61πŸ•Žβš½πŸŽ·πŸŽ₯ 11/01/2019 at 12:19 pm

Eriksen goes off occasionally but he does add fluidity to the team. When he doesnt play we have less of it and when he does play, there is always that great pass or that great goal he scores. I really would have liked to see him control a game. I dont think he does that much although he can put his stamp on a game. Still he would be very difficult to replace in a like for like way. The only good thing that can come out of him going is the slight possibility we can buy a central midfielder that has it all,its an iffy one so I hope he stays

Greetings from Aruba. Taking a week down here on a break that has been a long time in coming. The last several work years have been a bear.

Missed the Chelsea tilt. Stats sound like Spurs may have been a bit dominated, yet somehow got the job done in stage 1.

Had lunch today in a Colombian cafe. All footy all the time on their tv feeds, from all over the World. Very interesting. Bartender LOVES Sanchez, said most Colombian fans at least somewhat follow Spurs due to his involvement. I thought that was pretty cool.

Sorry, when it really mattered, Henman wimped out. He lost the Wimbledon semi final to Goran Ivanisevic, a man he had previously beaten everytime. Goran then won the final. It should have been Henman but he hadn’t got the bottle for the big games.

                • SpurAndy πŸ₯§πŸ’ 11/01/2019 at 12:52 pm

Well not sure how you can be so confident that he wimped out just because he lost a match. The fact that Goran went on to win the final may have been an indicator that at that time he was the best player in the tourney. Previous history is just that, history. All that matters is that on the day in question the other guy was better than Henman and whether that’s for psychological or physical reasons it doesn’t really matter. The only time I’d question a player is if he hadn’t put in the training and dedication to be his best. Personally don’t think you can level that at Henman but that’s just my opinion.

Dr. Masaru Emoto, the Japanese scientist who revolutionized the idea that our thoughts and intentions impact the physical realm, is one of the most important water researchers the world has known. For over 20 years until he passed away in 2014, he studied the scientific evidence of how the molecular structure in water transforms when it is exposed to human words, thoughts, sounds and intentions.

The extraordinary life work of Dr. Emoto is documented in the New York Times Bestseller, The Hidden Messages in Water. In his book, Dr. Emoto demonstrates how water exposed to loving, benevolent, and compassionate human intention results in aesthetically pleasing physical molecular formations in the water while water exposed to fearful and discordant human intentions results in disconnected, disfigured, and β€œunpleasant” physical molecular formations. He did this through through Magnetic Resonance Analysis technology and high speed photographs.

See the following water crystal photographs from Dr. Emoto’s work. Each water crystal you see was exposed to the word it has written next to it prior to being photographed:

Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.24.12 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.25.29 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.26.36 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.27.24 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.28.09 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.28.23 PM

His research also showed us how polluted and toxic water, when exposed to to prayer and intention can be altered and restored to beautifully formed geometric crystals found in clean, healthy water. The following photos are images of photographs of the the water in the Fujiwara Dam before and after the Reverend Kato Hoki, chief priest of Jyuhouin Temple, offered an hour long prayer over it.

Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.33.17 PMScreen Shot 2017-03-23 at 12.34.27 PM

Dr. Emoto also studied how sound affects water. The Emoto music studies demonstrate how certain types of sound, like classical music, generate beautiful crystalline patterns, while heavy metal music, generate ugly and distorted crystalline formations. In the images below you see the crystalline formation resulting from water being exposed to Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and then in contrast what the water crystal image looks like after listening to heavy metal music.

I’m sorry, no scientist has ever reputably replicated these occurrences, and the good doctor never gave clear information as to what his experimental methodology was, what he actually did. These are the classic hallmarks of a fraud.

    Poch presser…
“When we talk about operating in a different way, it’s to create something different to try to help the club achieve everything he wants. It doesn’t mean when operate it’s only asking for more money. It’s quick that all the people say when we need to operate in a different way it’s to operate with money. We need to create a way, because in the last four seasons and a half, we were adapting us to the project, to the club. For different reasons, because after nearly five years, always you need to refresh the project, to find a different way. Like in football you need to find a different way to play, a different way to surprise your opponents and motivate your players too and to propose different challenges. In that case when I say we need, WE need to find a different way to operate, between all, sharing ideas and trying to find different ways to adapt, the new sporting project. Of course we’re going to be in a different club, because it’s not the same to play in Wembley for the last two years nearly. To play now in our new stadium, of course always you need to adapt and find different ways to operate. That doesn’t mean how we operate today is not right, but of course with time you need to innovate and find new ideas and always be open to try to improve. That is the challenge or the way that we do things.”

    This will be ignored, obvs.

As if often the case, Pochettino talks in either riddles, or inexactitudes.
It’s not about money, it was different. Now he says it will need to be different, but different in a different way it was before.

      In other words meaningless piffle.

      Show us the money…

Don’t get me wrong, I love what Pochettino is doing.
But the aroma of bullshit wafting from some of these press conferences is unmistakeable.

Evening soldiers. My bros having twins tomorrow , Roman and Romeo. His first. This beats winning the league and CL hands down. Little Romeo has had complications for months as he’s half the size and has lost weight in the last week. Roman has stopped growing so there coming out 8 weeks early. Told me bro (pumped fucker) they’re just like his father cutting up already. I’m getting in quick , they’ll be yids before they leave the hospice. Got this , decided today to pull em out tomorrow but yet they are having to ring round all hospices in London (since 1pm) to find a space. Anyways what a feeling ?

Oh, such fabulous news, Anty! Have fun being an uncle! πŸ’“
