Through, not Threw

So this is what happens when a Manager instils Belief in a squad.  Some of our fan base, including on here (Shelfy, others?) dared to dream or make predictions that we would get the result that we needed and things would pan out well in the other tie (or over the whole group), but…..but, these lads had to actually go out and do it on the night.  No giving up until the 90+ET minute.  Keep playing our game.  Calm.  Focussed.  Trusting teammates.

We started well.  First 5 minutes I remember thinking; “We’re up for this tonight” and then BAM!  Sucker punched again.  FFS! Another big game, another individual error gifting a tough opponent an early goal.  I’m not digging KWP out specifically, Dembele was on him in a flash, but the reality is that we too often cause our own problems in these games.  Luckily this time, we had the minerals, the BELIEF, to turn it round.

As the first half ebbed and flowed we rode our luck a little, whilst also creating our own chances.  Apart from the goal, I’d say it was honours even, without having looked at any stats at all.

Second half:  ‘We are Tottenham, we’re in the Camp Nou, and we are here to kick your collective arses.’

Moussa smashing around.

Danny Rose finally, FINALLY! looking like the player he used to be.  Taking on players and beating them.  So good to see.  If we can get Serge back and improving, and Rosey carrying on on this trajectory, we can have two properly effective wing/full backs with good enough back up for lesser games.  Harsh on Tripps and Davies but you suddenly see what we’ve been missing when our full backs are actually providing a threat.

Harry finding a way to influence the game, even if he was having an off-night in front of goal (involved in 16 goals in 16 CL games – 13 goals, 3 assists).  Dele classy as always.

Lamela and Moura on at just the right time.

All in all, a great night, one to remember and draw to confidence from.  We can take anyone on.  The Flat Oeufers, that is.

No fear.

Good that Klopp is doing his bit. I can’t get past his teeth though. Where did he get them some Thai knockoff orthodonist? They can’t be natural. Anyway, I hope the kid gets better. Nothing worse than seeing children ill.

Anyway is it safe to post tonight without being abused by people who can’t take a joke?

Just saw the highlights of the Tyson Fury fight so got the boxing thing going. Looks like he has been sparring with Taff though. 🙂

          • AntSpurs 13/12/2018 at 10:40 pm

Fury got very lucky watched it live. Don’t know how he got up in the last round. Up like Creed. Gonna get all Gazcrack and say that looked staged for the rematch. Same for Connor McGregors last fight where he got done. Very WWE. Saying that my boy has done well (apologies for always speaking of my second main man …after Hali) that he’s learnt that Santa isn’t real and neither is WWE if which he is infatuated – at 5 years old he could name any entrance musics within 1 second of intro. Took it really well I’m so proud.

            • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:45 pm

How old is he now? Your lad.

              • AntSpurs 13/12/2018 at 10:50 pm

He’s 10, thought best he knew before secondary school. He had a meltdown when he found out the tooth faity wasn’t real. He couldn’t believe we’d lied to him when he’s already asked straight up. I explained this time after much deliberation that it was simple. I explained ‘would you want to tell your cousins younger children he’s not real’ NO WAY he said , so that od our predicament . I said now you know you are in a position of the know which also feels good no. The only problem is now he know she that he goes mad when he hears older kids trying to ruin it for the smaller ones and makes such a big deal it becomes obvious 😮

                • AntSpurs 13/12/2018 at 10:51 pm

Now is know and know is now , jeez that reads bad

They wanted it and we wanted it more. So looking forward to the next one. Next one you’ll be there right. I told ya I’m not going till you’re in 🥂

                    • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 10:49 pm

  • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:17 pm

Hmmm…seems quiet enough so here goes. I thought we put on a splendid performance the other night. All played their part. A baptism of fire for young KWP. Yes, he made a mistake but the headed pass he received from someone (Sissoko?) wasn’t that clever in my opinion. Danny (big gog) Rose I thought had one of his best games for a while. He is a notch above Ben at his best. Our left backs (wing thingies) they are so left footed though. Ben more than Danny. All those years playing football and can hardly kick with their right foot. It sometimes stifles our progress because they can’t turn inside and be comfortable passing with their right foot. Anyway seems weird to me. I wasn’t that much at football but I could kick with both feet. I taught myself kicking the ball against the garage wall or something like that. I am a bit a ambidextrous though maybe that’s why it didn’t feel unatural.

    • Matt 13/12/2018 at 10:21 pm

I thought it was a fantastic performance. Quality; character and boldness. An absolutely brilliant analysis of it on Spursfanatic, which I do not have shares in but thoroughly recommend.

      • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:25 pm

It probably is but for me it’s way too technical. I could understand it ok but it’s not something I enjoy reading tbh. Each to their own.

    • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 10:32 pm

Anyone know where can I download a Norfolk to English translator programme? ;-D

      • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:36 pm

        Why? Haven’t you travelled much?

        • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 10:37 pm

          No. What’s a ‘big gog’?

          • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 10:38 pm

Although I did get stranded in Suffolk for about 5 years once.

          • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:42 pm

Bummer, I thought I’d corrected that to “big gob”.

        • Matt 13/12/2018 at 10:40 pm

I can translate. I spent 2 years working in Norwich. A fine city. Coming from daaaahn the road in Colchester I speaky the lingo.

          • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 10:44 pm

I used to get by with yeah bah, no bah. 🤓

I admit it. I like Klopp. Plays great footy. Sense of humour; actually seems to enjoy being a manager. And once described his own antics on the line as “ embarrassment “ – a self aware football professional, surely not!

  • Matt 13/12/2018 at 10:48 pm

Stevo we’re living parallel lives. My two (twins) come home from University at the weekend then I’m off to see Dad who’s frail now, in deepest Essex.

    • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 10:50 pm

I got one at Warwick and one at Surrey. I’m from Stanford-le-hope if you know that. ha ha giving all my secrets away tonight.

      • Matt 13/12/2018 at 11:03 pm

Yeah I’m from Colchester so just a bit north up the coast. Small world, found out a few months back Fats and I know all the sameness pubs where he hails from.

      • Syd 13/12/2018 at 11:06 pm

Heya Stevo and Matty. Ahhhh boxing, a true art.

        • Syd 13/12/2018 at 11:07 pm

          I remember my days, nope there wasn’t any….just a push over..dam it

          • Matt 13/12/2018 at 11:21 pm

I love boxing but feel a bit of a fraud because I never did it. Footy, rugby athletics etc, but frankly just not hard enough!!

            • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:34 pm

I never did it either. Just never came my way. My dad did a bit at school and had the medals to show for it. He was a bit of a scrapper. Not me, I take after my mum.

  • Sexy Beast 13/12/2018 at 11:08 pm

Stevo, Klopps nashers: I just can’t take the bloke seriously when he opens his mouth it’s like a piano key board set or teeth of a robot.
    Robbotooth, i like that.

    • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:10 pm

Lovely big smile. Such a happy chappie. How can you not warm to the guy?

      • Sexy Beast 13/12/2018 at 11:12 pm

The bloke has crushed diamonds in his fake teeth and he is in his mid 40’s FFS!

        • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:16 pm

Yeah, I dislike Mr Fake intensely. Just pulling your leg. He should have got a touchline ban for running right to the centre of the pitch during the game.

  • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:12 pm

    David Dimbleby’s final Question Time.
It comes from London tonight, and has one Brexiteer and four Remainers. BBC balance at its best.

    • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:13 pm

Exactly why a second referendum would be a stacked deck.

    • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:28 pm

Yeah, I just went into the lounge and watched a bit. The Lucas women ahad her 5 minuts but when David Davis has his turn he was constantly interrupted by said Lucas women and Dimbleybum.

      • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:51 am

        Lucas, she’s such a prig.

  • Shelfy 13/12/2018 at 11:14 pm

I just read on the BBC that the Chelsea fans were up to their usual racist chanting again tonight.

        • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:27 pm

          I doubt it. He’s a Gooner.

          • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:29 pm

Amongst other things. Terrorist sympathiser etc..

            • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:32 pm

I’ll still vote Labour. Rather them than the callous elites that run the Nasty Party.

              • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:35 pm

Really? Stick a red rosette on a pig and they’ll still vote for it.

                • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:44 pm

Put a scarecrow in an expensive suit and a Tory rosette, and the easily impressed will vote for it.

              • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 11:35 pm

                They’re all cnuts.

                • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:39 pm

I’m almost agreeing with you there. The whole system is broken as I’m concerend.

                  • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 11:45 pm

They are supposed to work for the people, yet they think it’s ok to continually fob the public off with half truths and lies.
Don’t have respect for any of them.

                    • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:47 pm

It’s the system. That’s why the establishment fear Corbyn and precisely why I’ll vote for him.

                    • Caspurs 13/12/2018 at 11:52 pm

I’ll never vote tory, but corbyn’s no better. I find myself without a viable party to vote for. Oh what to do?

                    • Chauvelin 13/12/2018 at 11:54 pm

Green. Then you can feel morally superior to everyone else.

  • Matt 13/12/2018 at 11:23 pm

Home alone so treating myself to the second half of the Barça game again! Robbie Savage talking a lot of sense and actually wanted us to win.

  • stevo1987 13/12/2018 at 11:25 pm

I don’t think so. She can’t look after herself. That might be the future. It happens, she has a good family so we will deal with it and make it the best we can for her.

Holy communion, well….22 years. Our headmaster used to stand us in line , smoking a pipe with postcards all over that walls which were inappropriate. It’s all makes sense. Where’s he at ?

I would larf as it didn’t hurt and take a few more.

Don’t they send the perverts to special jails away from the general prisoners? I know there’s one in Usk near Newport.

              • AntSpurs 14/12/2018 at 12:55 am

In all prisons (I’ve found) spent time in 3. There is a paedo wing. Separated from the rest for association (playtime), collecting food , visits , doctors appointments etc. I’ve seen where they’ve been caught out , a screw (prison officer) has outed one to the wing and seen one with both arms and legs broken and sloshed (boiling water with sugar) melring the cunts face .

    To send you dullaly

  • MiT 14/12/2018 at 7:10 am

    Greetings, all.

    1. Hard pass on Rabiot for me. Medding mother, and documented chemistry issues. Poch’s Spurs are too tightly knit. Chances are too strong that the kid will not fit in.

    2. Someone mentioned an English backup keeper. I am personally very happy wuth what I have seen from Gazzaniga so far.

    3. Very inspiring to see Halibut’s coming back. Outstanding.

    4. Don’t forget that very few if any of you would know each other if it were not for the platform that TBH provided for so many years.

He has his own axes to grind, and he was always correct with the statement that the disagreeing reader does not have to click on his material in the future. The fact is that the separation of this blog from his was great for all of you, and good for him. The past is in the past, and not all of it was bad.

H no longer speaks of this group unless someone else brings it up. At this point, it is a few of you who are still hung up about it, even though you have every reason to leave it in the past, as you are once again happy with the blog in which you take part.

This is the last I’ll speak of it. I take different points from both places, and read both sites. I really don’t even see it as side vs side. It’s now just two separate and unrelated blogs with two very different MO’s. That’s at least the way it should be.

    • 61 Spurs Nut 🌰 14/12/2018 at 8:43 am

      4. I don’t like pontification. H is a first class instigator who has little to no respect for his “clientelle”. Click bait whore of the worst order. I don’t thank Barclays for introducing me to my wife so I certainly ain’t gonna thanks that cnut for introducing me to my friends here.

    • SpurAndy 🥧🍒 14/12/2018 at 9:15 am

I can’t thank a person who deliberately tried to negatively effect the livilyhood (and by default the family) of a friend of mine just because he inadvertently brought us together.

Nothing other than what MiT said, far as I know. I think in trying innocently to smooth the waters (that were already smooth) he’s unfortunately jogged the wasps nest.

        Greetings, Andy 🙂

It sounds like things got very personal to an unfortunate level going both directions. I’m glad not to know all of the details.

I wouldn’t expect anyone to express their profuse thanks. It did end poorly.

I’m just saying that it wasn’t all bad, and I’m surprised that people aren’t over it. It’s like a divorce, when things are so bitter for a while, but then you take a deep breath and figure out that such beautiful kids came from it. Move on with a bit more peace.

Numerous times personal contact was made because H privately and safely put people in contact through their emails.
He did not have to do that. He did not have to create blogs and pages to support needs, causes, thoughtful gifts, fun competitions.

It wasn’t all bad, and again some very good things came from it. There just came a Time that he needed to beat the drum that he wanted to beat, and thus a time for all of you to move on and beat the drum that you now beat. After a bit of messiness, both blogs moved on in their own directions.

I don’t feel like I poked the wasp’s nest as much as I’m just trying to point out to other people not to poke the nest. Those wasps will leave you alone if you don’t mess with them.

Actually my apols to you MiT as I didn’t realise there had been a mention about TBH earlier in the day. I just thought you’d picked it out of the air but should have realised that isn’t your style, my mistake. I’ve never denied the H did some good stuff, particularly for Hal. The other side still leaves a nasty taste in the mouth partly because I feel a bit guilty that I didn’t say something at the time when he verbally abused people who disagreed and who were possibly first time posters who weren’t aware of his nature. Whilst I’m personally happy to let it lye everybody is entitled to make their own choice but those who see there club being bad mouthed for no apparent reason than to create clicks are free in my book to challenge those responsible. Hope you and yours have a great Christmas.

Out of curiosity can I ask do you comment on the other blog ?

    • Syd 14/12/2018 at 12:15 pm

The fact that you’re even posting on here would indicate that you are banned from over there. Don’t you have an opinion about that?

      • MiT 14/12/2018 at 6:20 pm

        Greetings, Syd. 🙂

I honestly wasn’t picking anyone out. I’m just very surprised at how often the subject comes up.

Yes, post at both places. I simply don’t post very frequently at either blog. Most of the time, I just prefer reading to posting. I learn more by reading all of your points of view rather than by posting mine.

        • Syd 14/12/2018 at 8:08 pm

          Its MiT.
I am wondering how it is that you are allowed to post on both sites. Obviously this one there is no problem. I thought I had a good relationship with Harry and all I did was read this blog and then make a quick post and I was banned and later called names. It comes up every now and then which you may expect because for so long we were all a part of that and how it ended was so abrupt that is obviously going to come up every now and then.
I’ve always found you to be a fair and reasonable poster on the blogs.
Nothing would make me happier than everyone enjoying the success or otherwise of spurs. All the best mate.

            • MiT 14/12/2018 at 8:55 pm

I simply don’t post much, and I express genuine appreciation for his blog. If H chose to ban me, I would still read his material. There are many of his questions that someone does need to ask. I really don’t post enough to where a ban would be much skin off of my nose anyway.

I think it’s just a matter of a clean break being a clean break. I simply happened to come in off of Hiatus a while after the break occurred.

The thing is, this is a solid blog, and all of you are happy here.

            • MiT 14/12/2018 at 8:58 pm

I also posted thoughts on the bans in a response to Bruxie below. We’ve all had situations in our lives to where we’ve needed a clean break.

  • Bruxie 14/12/2018 at 8:37 am

    • MiT 14/12/2018 at 8:30 pm

      Greetings, Bruxie 🙂

Firstly, just wanted to say that I truly enjoy reading your posts. They’re generally thoughtful, fair, and balanced, and they paint a picture of you as being a true gem of a fellow.

I have no answer regarding the bans, as I am in no position to speak for someone else.

All I can say on that subject is that over the course of my life, I have had several personal situations that have affected me so strongly that I felt the need to make a completely clean and thorough break.

It happens. There are always those who will take it personally when it was not intended as personal. Sometimes we simply need to remove ourselves completely in order to get our lives back to where they need to be.

Life unceremoniously and unmercifully moves on. It’s up to us as far as what to take personally, and for how long. The thing is, if we are once again content with our own surroundings, then there’s no need to dwell on it.

I started on Facebook about 2009. I completely deleted it about 3 months ago. This was a decision a long long time in coming. I made the decision for several reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with the people with whom I would be breaking off contact. It was simply a very principled decision.

I’m amazed at how many people took that personally. Their only thought was how it affected them. I hurt them. I disregarded my relationship with them.

There really has been very little thought or consideration expressed to me from these people as to why I may have felt the need to make this decision.

When I tell them that I had simply grown to despise the effect that Facebook has on human nature, in addition to a realization of how much of my personal privacy I’m giving away by being on it, their responses again only relate to themselves.

“Well, my friends are too important to me. Why don’t you just do what I do, ignore the political stuff, and just post your family pictures, your dog pictures, etc. Just stay in touch. ??”

That’s great for them, but again. It was a principled decision that I could only make for me. If I despise the principles, then I would be hypocritical to remain on it. It’s that simple. There is nothing personal about it.

These are just musings, my friend. It’s simply how I can relate myself to the situation. Perspective, if you will.

When you are on a high, that should keep you buzzing. Burnley will be a matter of concentration. Arse, well, will they play a weakened side? They’ll probably use Ozil for that one as he’s seen as too lazy to be a first choice under Emery.

That means he won’t score again this season…

  • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:04 pm

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Vertonghen said: “I’ve got a contract until 2020 — there’s an option and Tottenham will take that option. So I’ve got a year and a half left and then we’ll see. The way I feel now, I’ve got at least four to five good years left in the tank.

“There are no talks [with the club], but that’s something to discuss. At the moment I feel great at Tottenham. It’s a club with unbelievable potential — not just the players but everything around it. Everyone wants to be part of it.”
This sounds like cheering news, except – NO TALKS? It makes you wonder just how contract extensions are handled. If Jan signed a new contract it might influence Toby to agree a new one. I hope Spurs are actually trying.

    • Sexy Beast 14/12/2018 at 12:08 pm

Toby’s gone Chauv, he was offered a very good contract but decided not to sign. He will get £200k a week somewhere like Manure and as it will likely be his last contract can you blame him?

      • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:11 pm

      • cavey 14/12/2018 at 12:13 pm

He’s too good a defender to allow to slip through our fingers to a loathed opponent. We must do our utmost to keep him on board. Why strengthen the enemy?

        • Sexy Beast 14/12/2018 at 12:21 pm

We all wish Levy could offer him terms that would make him sign but from Toby’s point of view he probably feels he should have got a decent rise after 18 months and most of us would agree with that.

          • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 12:28 pm

First let me say I am glad you slept well. Hope that continues.
In terms of Toby he was offered a big pay raise 12 to 18 months ago. Reports said it was what he told Poch he wanted.
He should have taken it then.
Looo at Dele and Harry. Neither ask for new contacts but both keep getting new better terms.
I see no reason why Toby would have been different.
If he had accepted 120 to 130k per week as was reported he might have been given a bump up a year or so later.
            His agent screwed up royally.
He hasn’t been as good as he was before his very serious injury and is maybe just about getting back to his best.
He might not find it easy to get. 200k multi year deal elsewhere.

            • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:46 pm

I don’t think that money is genuinely out there for him, but good luck to Toby nevertheless.

            • Sexy Beast 14/12/2018 at 12:49 pm

In his first season with us (leicester’s year) we had the joint best defence after conceding 50+ the year before, it’s comparable to Kane breaking into the first team and scoring 25+ goals then getting a pay rise on the back of it.
Who really knows what went on with him a pooch but we will all be sad to see him go 🙁

              • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 1:14 pm

I do agree he has been very very good for us possibly even transformative (though some of that is due to Poch).
I hope he stays. My main point was he could have been getting paid a lot more for a year or more if he accepted what was offered back then. He might also have got another pay raise subsequently (who knows).

      • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:21 pm

I don’t think Man U is a done deal by any manner. They didn’t stir for him last summer despite all the talk. I reckon they’ll reinforce in January, and if Toby is hoping for that move he may find that boat has sailed. Of course others will be looking at him but he might find those promised riches his agent has dangled in front of him are an illusion. We’ll see.

        • UnkleTaff 14/12/2018 at 1:08 pm

It doesn’t look like Utd are about to ditch Mourinho over the next couple of weeks (although a bad result against Liverpool could change that) but with doubts over his long-term future at Old Trafford will they be prepared to back his judgement in the January window?

If I were a player Utd would be one of the last teams I’d be looking to join right now.

          • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 1:17 pm

            Good points
I think unless a player genuinely thinks he is a Mourinho type player (whatever that is- Fallaine maybe one). he would end up being unhappy.

    • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:10 pm

By that I mean trying to conclude new contracts asap. I guess Levy has a mountain in his In Tray, just hope all is in hand.

    • UnkleTaff 14/12/2018 at 12:27 pm

I wouldn’t be too upset to see him leave. If he stays, that’s good too, but I think his best days are behind him and if we could use the money generated by his sale to strengthen the squad overall then I’d happily accept that.

In Sanchez and Foyth we have two very good replacements who are only going to get better with playing time.

      • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 12:44 pm

Of the two, Jan is probably the more important one to keep at this moment, if at all possible, being a rarer left footed centre back.

        • Matt 14/12/2018 at 12:46 pm

I agree; you need one of them and I think despite the fact he’s older, Jan’s fitter. Also, Jan is left footed, all our others are right. We need a lefty.

        • UnkleTaff 14/12/2018 at 12:50 pm

I’ve always been a big admirer of Vertonghen but he’s not getting any younger. I’m delighted to hear that he’s still happy to be here and I have no desire at all to see him leave but if he should decide he wants to end his career elsewhere I’d warmly shake him by the hand, thank him for his contribution and wish him all the very best.

Other players may have got the headlines, but he’s been one of our unsung heroes over the past few years.

      • DAVID 14/12/2018 at 2:52 pm

I thought he was out of contract in the Summer, in which case we won’t be getting any transfer fee.

        • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 2:57 pm

Both Toby and Jan have extension options the club Cana trigger at the end of this season for an extra year.
Jan says he expects the club to do that and he is happy to stay
Toby has a 25 mil release clause built in if he has the option to extend activated.
The worry has always been he is worth more than 25 million so he will be snapped up when Spurs exercise their option on him.

          • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 3:13 pm

25 million is not chicken feed. It ‘pays the deposit’ towards a new centre half. Probably need to top that up with another 25 million.

            • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 3:18 pm

It certainly isn’t chicken feed especially considering we paid about 12 million for him and have had probably most of his best years out of him!

One of the many leadership skills that I learned, many decades ago, as an Army Officer was something like this: leadership is not necessarily always trying to show/prove that you are the best (ie: Mourinho) but leadership is making those who work for you or report to you their best (ie:Poch). Clear difference and clearly different result(s.) That is all.

Mourinho laid into his players once more after the Valencia defeat this week. When they win it’s down to him; when they lose it’s down to them.

Contrast this with Pochettino’s “we win as a team and we lose as a team” mantra.

As a player I know which of the two I’m going to give my best efforts for.

The conundrum is that he wins stuff. Maybe employ him for 2 seasons max then show him the door whatever happens as ultimately it will always end in tears. Not for us I might add as he’s now damaged goods and his best days are behind him I think.

                • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 3:16 pm

He’s a cunning tactician, but no coach worth speaking of. He wants ready made players and prefers to buy his own rather than deal with the existing team.

                  • Shelfy 14/12/2018 at 3:20 pm

His current mantra that this is not his team is odd considering he bought a lot of them and he likes some that were there before him.

I’ve escaped from that. Took about eleven maneovres…as I got clear, the guy who had boxed me in came and drove away. I was in a metered space and he’d just parked on the double yellows in his flash car. Apparently expensive cars must be exempt.

    • AntSpurs 14/12/2018 at 5:59 pm

Don’t feel too bad FoF, I don’t drive and I had someone parking in my spot but was needed for family. I put two polite letters, the second with a please don’t ignore this one. I was on crutches as I’d broken my ankle but I got down (in the snow) and let down all his tyres (at least I didn’t slash them) and then he came out just before I keyed his paintwork . I thought I might get a boot in the face as I couldn’t get up with big boot and cast on. I told him he was about to have his paintwork scratched and he was shutting himself. I did feel a tad guilt my too but the rage just for parking in MY spot was unknown.

Mourinho laid into his players once more after the Valencia defeat this week. When they win it’s down to him; when they lose it’s down to them.

That must take great self discipline and a lot of balance.

Twice for the 40-day Lenten period I have fasted from meat. Once vegetarian, once pescetarian. My body lacked energy both times. Fatigue. Finding the protein and calories necessary to feed my muscle and frame took a balance that I could not find. I completed the 40 days both times, but it took its toll both times. My body is not as pretty as it once was, but when I was a younger man, I put a lot of muscle on my frame that changed my shape and bass. Find a good balance for that sort of thing in a vegetarian or pescetarian diet is tremendously tricky, let alone finding it in a vegan diet.

Admiration for your balance and discipline.

            • UnkleTaff 14/12/2018 at 7:17 pm

No admiration necessary. I’ve been doing it for so long now it’s not something I even have to think about any more.

              • MiT 14/12/2018 at 7:45 pm

Also admiration and respect for your humility. 😉

In all seriousness, I do think of veganism as a lifetime commitment that is certainly worth one’s recognition. Especially for those who quietly choose the commitment as what is right for themselves without using it as a platform.

I’ve been feeling guilty all day.

When I was in college I knew this insane, very large fellow (lineman on the American football team). He once parked in someone’s space and got blocked in by the rightful user. This guy was nuts and drove a piece of junk car, so he rammed into car blocking him 5-6 times until cleared enough room to get out of the space.

    • Freund or Foe 14/12/2018 at 7:22 pm

Thankfully I’ve never come across that. Once had a woman who refused to apologise, so I refused to move. To her credit, she held out for about 45mins before knocking on the door and saying sorry.
Another time someone had parked right across a tight spot which is my only exit, and I was already late for work. “No fucking parking” in permanent marker pen directly on their windscreen. Felt guilty for days for that one.

      • AntSpurs 14/12/2018 at 7:34 pm

Hahaha with a rebel yell we cried more more more. Not sure which one is best. Ok keeping her waiting to say sorry is pretty cool. 👍🏻

        • Freund or Foe 14/12/2018 at 7:38 pm

I didn’t feel guilty about that one. She came at me with an “I don’t give a fuck” attitude. Whereas the marker pen, it could’ve been some old dear who couldn’t walk very far and wasn’t aware she was blocking the road. That’s what I convinced myself, anyhow.

          • AntSpurs 14/12/2018 at 7:42 pm

MiT I get where you’re coming from but it really shouldn’t be too hard to get all the calories /protein you need from a plant based diet. Check out the dudes in the trailer for this doc if you don’t believe me! –

    • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 8:20 pm

Maybe it was the shock transition from one diet to another that caused the body to feel tired. The digestive system can suddenly have to work harder to extract nourishment from bulky, fibrous foods in a plant based diet compared to energy dense foods like meat.

      • Goatboy333 14/12/2018 at 8:40 pm

Yeh could be. If I have the energy to stay up for the 10 o clock news I’m doing well these days but that’s probably just my age…

At the time I made the switch having a balanced diet was the furthest thing from my mind; I just decided I didn’t want to eat animals anymore.

I suspect a lot of it is down to how much you actually want to do it.

My lad had a gecko, we feed it locusts. I tend to put three in at a time, and if they don’t get eaten straight away, one tends to find the water bowl and has a good drink. I’ve noticed that as soon as the first locust finds the water, the other two locusts immediately head for it too, no matter where they are in the tank. How do the other two know there is water, and where to find it? It’s definitely not a visual thing, they have been in positions where they couldn’t possibly see the first locust, so it must be communication, or maybe sound/vibration? Answers on a postcard please, I’m intrigued and google isn’t helping.

Just thought I’d mention the potential relevance of the CL draw next Monday, on our efforts in the League Cup.

Round of sixteen first legs are scheduled for either 12/13 Feb, or 19/20 Feb. We’d be at home, wherever that happens to be.

The League Cup final is Sunday 24 Feb.

If we discover we’re playing our tie, say on the 20th, would there be much point trying hard to go any further in the Carabao LC against Arsenal, or be prudent and send the reserves out on Wednesday?

    Just contemplating the priorities involved…

    • Chauvelin 14/12/2018 at 11:46 pm

However, we might play our tie on the 12/13 Feb, so more to ponder on Monday than just the opponent.

Glad that Oliver Skipp got a good chance to play. He played as well as anyone could have expected but the main thing I like was his proactiveness of always working in space and as well poimting the way for others. He wasnt afraid or peturbed by the moment. Played it cool. Seems like he will take it on.
