I like Merrance … and I like RonWol, but which one’s the best? There’s only one way to find out … Two dinosaurs lock horns in a battle to … the Zimmer frame!

Merrance says:

I am thoroughly cheesed off with interlull cant be arsed to watch the USA friendly while hoping our boys dont get crocked,Football saturation with meaningless games.By the time we play blue scum on the 24th we will have missed 7-8 weeks of stop start prem .No flow eh Ronwol, how can there be flow when players are thrown out of wack and teams have to be patched up etc. Teams will be throwing cup games to avoid fixture congestion. What a farce fifa and Uefa have contrived. stitched up the prem like a kipper. waiting for results spread over Friday to monday to see how to play and what tactics to use and players to pick according to the schedules.GAH AND PFFFT

But RonWol reckons:

You want real football where the players deal with tough schedules, difficult conditions and play with their hearts and souls. Its time for us not to whine,to get in there and win the struggle. This is an opportunity to heal our wounds and come back like the club we think we are. Blowing our own horns for centuries does nothing for the reality of life.We have to face the tasks thrown at us. Look at Sexy,he is ready. We all must be ready. The players have time for tattoos and silly haircuts, lets get focused and win one game at a time.
We throw away silly points with one game a week to mediocre teams. We ARE or we are NOT. Tottenham has to decide who it is. Davies playing shitty is not because of the schedule.
The one player we have to has given his all week in week out and is now winning his battle is a player most of the fans have hated….he fights every game both the outside and his own confidence. Now is not the time for moaning. Its the time to refocus and get to the task. No excuses. Just fucking do it.

Seconds out: Round 1!

    Sicknesses:

    Blaming the ref,the crowd,the schedule…etc

    Healthy:
Taking responsibility. Coming to the game with the right mental attitude, the Jamie O’Hara sensibility. Leaving it all on the field. Believing more in real terms that the words they say and not showing up for the first minute of the first game.

    Doing it.

    Swoosh.

Dele came back from his injury with his timing off a bit but fighting for everything. This is the way. Not hiding. I want to see the same from all our players.

I wanna see a midfield of:

      ____Dier__Alli__
      Lamela, Eriksen, Moura
      ______Kane

Would Poch move away from his favoured two DM’s? I think Deli & Lamela work hard enough to cover, Eriksen & Moura work hard when we don’t have the ball too. Alli would have to sit a little deeper, but he’s good at ghosting in, might work!

      • Shelfy 15/11/2018 at 3:42 pm

Against mid to lower table teams I think that line up would be good.
Could even be more attacking with Winks in for Dier

  • Hartley 15/11/2018 at 11:30 am

I agree with both of the senior citizens, International football should be banned or at least open only to amateur players and fuck me, at 53 I can play three games of 90 minute football a week and train and get tattooed and run my fuckin farm.

  • Caspurs 15/11/2018 at 11:44 am

The new interlull competition is ridiculous and only serves to put players in greater danger of injury due to fatigue or by other means. National teams are now obliged to play a friendly if they do not have a competitive game, but others in the group do, how stupid is this? Furthermore, competitions such as the world cup and the Euro’s have increased participant numbers, more football!
There comes a point where the powers that be will have to realise that continually scheduling games will in the long run effect player performance, and increase the likely hood of injury.
Three games a week was more realistic years ago when pitches were softer (less impact injuries), the pace of the game was slower, and distances covered by the players was less. Nowadays things are different, and to see players perform at their peak, the authorities and clubs (stupid summer tours) need to consider what is best for players (and paying fans), rather than blindly rushing headlong for more and more revenue.

The “are’s” and the “are not’s”. I are interested in not seeing meaningless international footie. And Harts, to be 53 again………

I agree with a lot of what dinosaur Ronwol says and it would be great if that was the attitude all round but it is not there is too much tinkering with the game that does affect the players minds. I still say gah and pfft,I think I will hand this one slightky edging to Melcyid who I know would agree with me.

    • Fatty B 15/11/2018 at 1:04 pm

You and Melcyid are like as peas in a pod.

So VAR has been approved for PL games next season.
I hope they use it more efficiently and effectively than they did on the cup last year.

  • Shelfy 15/11/2018 at 2:59 pm

What is the solution to playing so many games.
Obviously having a strong squad is important but over rotation often leads to lack of cohesion and scrappy play.
Players need regular game time to stay sharp and match fit but too much game time and errors and injuries creep in.
When we get to the tail end of the season we either have games thick and fast if we are in the cups or one a week or less if we were knocked out early.
I think we have a good balance where most of the 25 man squad are good enough to start. But We do have a couple of stars who tend to start almost every game which is not so good

  • GDawg 15/11/2018 at 2:59 pm

Ron didn’t mention flow once did he?

    • HD 🇺🇸 15/11/2018 at 3:03 pm

  • Sexy Beast 15/11/2018 at 3:36 pm

The interlull sure beats being in hospital that is for sure!

    • Chauvelin 15/11/2018 at 3:40 pm

      You been fixed now SB?

    • Shelfy 15/11/2018 at 3:41 pm

We should put together a list of things we would rather be in hospital than do.
It probably wouldn’t be very long.
I’ll start with I rather be in hospital than a hospice!
Hope your pain is being well managed and your op goes well tomorrow!

    In answer to Shelfy.

  • Sexy Beast 15/11/2018 at 5:21 pm

What channel is the game on tonight guys?

  • Elyid 15/11/2018 at 8:00 pm

Thoroughly good read! Have often found myself conflicted watching him play, a part of me has always wanted him to score a “wordly” to win a big game on the other hand I find myself muttering expletives at him as he fails with the final ball or almost trips over the thing. His commitment is without question and for that I always find myself willing the guy to be the match winner or the hero. Had similar emotions whilst watching Soldado play. In the end we have to trust the manager and seems to see something special in the guy and as long as he does then I will keep hoping!
