Harry Kane: Is he really all that? SSG’s tribute.

Harry Kane. All he does is score shitloads of goals (left foot, right foot, head, and is the best penalty taker in the world), and assist, and hold the ball up, and win headers, and make flick-ons, and run the channels, and bring his teammate into play, and play defense splitting balls, and drop deep if needed, and defend and be the emergency keeper. Average player. One season wonder for the 4th season running.

As stated, the epitome of hard work and perseverance.

    • Ronwol196061 17/10/2018 at 12:54 pm

Right on HD. I don’t see Harry Kane as a natural (his instincts are for sure) but he has grafted his way through, fighting and learning as he went along to become as good as he is.
He also has a good eye for a pass.. Better than most.
      Really a top notch man

  • Fatty B 16/10/2018 at 3:55 pm

The last England superstar was Beckham; I predict Kane will be bigger, much bigger than Beckham (football wise). He’s got the lot.

  • stevo1987 16/10/2018 at 4:00 pm

I think Beckham has more tattoos.

  • SeattleSpursGuy 16/10/2018 at 4:03 pm

What I find amazing is how much he gets knocked. And not just by opposing fans, but by pundits who have been in and around the game for years. And every time Kane answers their criticisms, they come up with something else. This is an incredibly special player, but some just can’t see it. Maybe last night’s performance opened some eyes.

    • Chauvelin 16/10/2018 at 4:11 pm

Quite simply he isn’t at Manchester United. If he was, he’d be worshipped by the media.

    • Fatty B 16/10/2018 at 6:00 pm

We Brits have a peculiarly negative tradition of building people up and then smashing them down before tearing them to shreds and laughing at their humiliation. God bless us.

  • Chauvelin 16/10/2018 at 4:15 pm

Spot on SSG! Kane is Roy of the Rovers (a footballer in a British kid’s comic).
He can do anything asked of him. Scorer, provider, defender, workhorse, target man, leader. Never complains, never gives less than 100 per cent, father, role model.

    Hero.

  • 89Spurs πŸ‘ 16/10/2018 at 4:48 pm

He really is a perfect role model, for the youth in the Academy. Trains well, and has the right mental attitude, to match.

I recently had a dust-up with a Liverpool fan (simple creatures, bless ’em) who seriously argued that Daniel Sturridge–Daniel Flippin’ Sturridge!–was a better all-round striker than Kane. It’s unbelievable.

A tip of the cap also to Eric Dier for this wonderfully needless clean-out of Sergio Ramos

    • DAVID 16/10/2018 at 9:47 pm

20 years ago nobody batted an eyelid at tackles like that.
Credit to Dier for flattening that twat, although he could have picked up a second yellow just before the end of the game.

      • SeattleSpursGuy 16/10/2018 at 9:57 pm

When you think about where the tackle took place, about the best you could hope for was a goal kick to Spain. That’s what made it so pointless and wonderful.

  • DAVID 16/10/2018 at 10:01 pm

Yes, I think Eric was leaving a marker, setting the tone, so to speak.

    • SeattleSpursGuy 16/10/2018 at 10:03 pm

      Absolutely

      • stevo1987 16/10/2018 at 10:07 pm

I’d like to see him get a bit more fired up for us. It appears to me he has a very laid back personality which doesn’t help him much. We need more Graham Roberts and less erm…. laid back dude.

    • SeattleSpursGuy 16/10/2018 at 10:53 pm

Dier’s comment on the tackle: β€œThe ball was there to be won and I think I won it. I don’t think it was a foul or a yellow card really. I think it’s really important that we respect our opponents and Ramos is one of the best of all time. It’s important to respect them, but at the same time, once we start the game, it’s every man for himself and we have to put our foot down, put a marker down and be aggressive. Still with respect, but we have to be aggressive, be on the front foot and show that nothing is going to intimidate us.”

      • Fatty B 17/10/2018 at 11:38 am

That *sounds* bang on and it’s something we need at Spurs, but I’m not convinced we have it at all.

You guys must be joking..truly… what he did to Salah was deliberate and disgusting. Ramos was a pig that night and has been on many occasion. I hope it is sarcasm…really. Mo Salah is simply a terrific player even if plays for Liverpool.

  • syd 17/10/2018 at 5:10 am

I must admit when we lost Keane and Berbatov I thought we were in dire straits, and when Kane came on the scene, I was one who stuck his hand up and said the kid is not Premier League standard.
Sometimes humble pie can be absolutely delicious.

    • SpurAndy πŸ₯§πŸ’ 17/10/2018 at 7:19 am

Syd agree with Sicario, although not as good as the first one, they almost never are. Salah is a very good player when on form, but his career is littered with many periods when he’s not. When compared to Harry and the last 4 years I don’t think he’s at the same level.

      • syd 17/10/2018 at 7:34 am

Yes the first one was brilliant, but there will be a third, benicio is amazing

  • syd 17/10/2018 at 7:33 am

    Hi Andy, hows things?
I would never compare Salah to Kane. Not the same position or quality imo.
I only mentioned Salah because Glos and Unk made comment about not being too unhappy Salah was injured by Ramos, when I believe it was a despicable act, Liverpool player or not.
Having talked about Salah, I would love him to be feeding balls to Kane. Between him , trips, Christian and Dele, that would be awesome and better than what ‘Pooh would have.

    • SpurAndy πŸ₯§πŸ’ 17/10/2018 at 7:54 am

All good for me Syd, just about to go on a couple of days hols in Norfolk. Hope everything is good with your world. Not personally sure about the Ramos challenge, thought he was trying to foul him but not necessarily injure him the way he did. Yes would def love to see Salah play with Kane, he’d be a great addition. Sadly can’t see it happening though. Looks like he’s struggling this season and is regularly being subbed, much to his displeasure, so will be interesting to see how it plays out.

      • Caspurs 17/10/2018 at 8:01 am

I don’t think Ramos intended to injure Salah, it’s an uncommon injury, and not one that someone would be likely to choose in order to put an opponent out of a game.

        • Syd 17/10/2018 at 11:04 am

          Watch it again

    • Chauvelin 17/10/2018 at 8:31 am

Sorry Syd, Ramos was defending with vigour just like he did the other night when he clattered into Kane. He didn’t hold back then and didn’t against Liverpool. Why should defenders treat Salah with kid gloves? Is he made of glass?

      • Syd 17/10/2018 at 11:03 am

Thought it was very well done. Its easy to understand, nothing profound. There is no answers. Just many questions and they are the usual ones, coming from whatever polar side you are on. But always food for thought.
The fact is it was depicted in a very creative way. Robots are not us,they are them on both sides and if we could see it as a real observer we might find solutions

  • Chauvelin 17/10/2018 at 12:53 pm

The CL final ishistory now, but at the moment Salah is struggling to find his form. He can score goals, but was last year a freak season for getting such a large number? Vardy also had a golden season to help the Foxes win the title but that was a one season wonder. Kane is the genuine article.

    • Ronwol196061 17/10/2018 at 1:00 pm

      Vardy needs more support
The first season was a one off but Vardy is excellent if he could get more service
Salah too is an excellent player almost in the Suarez fold but not as devlous (some can call it clever)
He too though is an excellent player. Salah has tremendous support in the forward line and the bench players are not bad either.
      Kane is better than both.
      We are lacking creativity.

  • Ronwol196061 17/10/2018 at 12:55 pm

I don’t see Harry Kane as a natural (his instincts are for sure) but he has grafted his way through, fighting and learning as he went along to become as good as he is.
He also has a good eye for a pass.. Better than most.
    Really a top notch man

Moosehead is rather bloody nice actually. Quite fond of Molson too. But I’d take some decent green over either of them.

I can only imagine how distraught he must be on his Β£8.5m salary and with his team 2 points behind the leaders having had their best ever start to a PL season. Difficult to see how he’s getting through the days.
