Guest Bloeug: The latest from LA

Sent in by our very own Ron, as he heads over to LA to catch some games on the pre-season tour, who writes this message to us mere mortals on Flat Oeuf:

“ I told you one day I would get you a top notch player in Spursworld, Ok I couldn’t get Harry Kane or Sly Stone. I mean Sly Stone is more of a Gooner lets face it……but I have someone even better. Ashley Collie is a journalist out of LA and a buddy of mine. He is an ex Toronto man,the Canuck, and for several years has lived in LA writing for the likes of Playboy, TO Star, Movie Entertainment, Huffington Post and has an upcoming novel Rejex on Pulp Hero Press (not in Ronglish I might add)”

So, without more ado:

USA Tour 2018 — Greeted by LA Spurs, Tottenham Touches Down in the USA for its Sixth Pre-Season Appearance in Nine Years in America

By Ashley Jude Collie

The Cockerel has landed!

An excited group of LA Spurs met the lads at LAX on July 22 at the beginning of USA Tour 2018 that, involves three ICC games — AS Roma (San Diego on July 25), Barcelona (Los Angeles on July 28) and AC Milan (Minneapolis on July 31). Songs were sang, kisses and hugs were exchanged, and the young squad — minus the nine Spurs players who played in the last four at the World Cup, including Cup winning and Spurs/France captain Hugo Lloris — was chuffed by the love extended to them. That included them being serenaded by “I’m Tottenham Till I Die.”
Rolfe Jones is co-founder of LA Spurs, which was officially recognized as a supporters club in 2010, and whose home “patch” to watch televised EPL games is the Greyhound Bar & Grill in Highland Park, in east LA. Jones, an ex-pat and lifelong Yid, tells the story of LA Spurs humble beginnings:

“When the LA Spurs officially started in 2005 — even though our roots go back to 1998 when Graeme Rudge and I were the only Spurs fans we knew going to see games regularly — it was the beginning of a new age. The LA Spurs were the first EPL Supporters club in L.A. We humbly feel we set the tone for all of the other EPL Supporters clubs to come. It was very small in the beginning with fellow co-founders Jason Maxwell and Kate Sukham and me helping spread the word. Everywhere we went, our fledgling band would collect email addresses and we’d send out email blasts to inform where we were going. In the early days, five to ten fans would show up. Now if 50 show up it’s considered a poor turnout. Now, during the season we often have 200 or more show up for the bigger matches. In 2010, LA Spurs became officially recognized and what started small, like a mustard seed, has grown into the largest Spurs supporters group in the USA with over 1500 on our membership roster, plus thousands of others across the nation and around the world in touch.”

Edwin Soria, who grew up in San Diego but now lives in LA, offers his own falling-in-love story:
“I grew up loving football because my dad would always watch it. But it wasn’t until Mexico’s Chicharito went to Manchester United that I started watching more Premier League. I always liked the team called Tottenham, I don’t why, but I did. I like how they played with passion and even though they weren’t a ‘top team’ in the league, I loved them. But, it wasn’t until Spurs beat Man City to qualify for the Champions League that I truly became a Spurs fan.

“After a few seasons of watching Spurs play from my couch, I stumbled upon a video on YouTube that was about ‘NY Spurs.’ That’s when I realized there was a big following of Spurs fans in the States! Hello! I dug the idea of going to a bar and singing songs with fellow Spurs fans! So I looked up Spurs fans in San Diego and lucky for me, they had a Facebook page! So I started watching games with San Diego Spurs! After a year, I had to move to LA for school, so again, I looked up Spurs in LA and here we are today! LA Spurs are truly the best and loudest fans I know! I am truly blessed to join LA Spurs for the games at the Greyhound Bar! Much love to SD Spurs, but I feel at home in LA Spurs! But, I notice new faces in SD and LA for the matches! Spurs fans are truly the best fans because we are like a family, no other team is like us. We all love Tottenham Hotspur! COYS!”

And, then there’s passionate Angeleno Bri Uribe:
“My household was firmly baseball and basketball when I was growing up. I only started understanding and liking soccer in 2009, when my college friends, who were in an amateur league, first introduced me to the sport. In 2010, the World Cup South Africa took over my social media feeds. My friends and I would go to viewing parties to cheer on the Mexican National team. That’s when I really started appreciating the beauty of the sport and how it could unite the world. I wanted more soccer in my life and decided to start researching the English Premier League. My college friends were all either Manchester United or Liverpool fans. But, I knew from the start that I didn’t want to be a ‘bandwagon’ fan, but my friends’ opinions were important to me.
“I posted on Facebook that I was looking to pick a PL side and appealed to my friends to make their cases for their teams. I wanted to get an idea of what teams were popular and why. Was it their style, the players, or maybe something else that drew them to pick that team? Ultimately, I made it ‘Facebook official’ on August 17, 2012 and posted that I chose Spurs, where the trolls immediately started chiming in to tease me about making a ‘bad’ decision. And so my life as a Spurs supporter began. Once I commit to something, I become obsessed. I learned that there was a chapter of supporters in the LA area and I knew I had to find them. By the third match of the season, I took my youngest sister to the King’s Head in Studio City at 5:30 am to watch my team with other LA Spurs supporters. They have since become another branch of my family tree. Everyone at LA Spurs is a character and has a piece of my heart. I can honestly say that I love you, Tottenham! I DO! From that day in August 2012, I have been fiercely defending my decision, cheering the boys on, and hoping for a bright lilywhite future. My heart isn’t actually red, it’s blue and it will always beat for Tottenham Til I Die.”

Ron continues:

“It will take you a week or two to read through what Ive just posted but look I did ask Mr Flat Oeufer to raise the populace’s IQ levels so they could read some of my Ronglish stuff.

Remember my Dictionary,The Ronglish one $19.95 at almost no stores and not online. There is a special distribution. You send me the $19.95 and I send you the Dictionary. Simples.

Ashley also writes on a great Tottenham Blog that I personally love. Its Alan Fisher’s Tottenham on my Mind. Its not a banter blog although you can comment but for me its the best written Tottenham Blog in the World. Alan is not only a fantastic writer he is a really fantastic chap {I call it class, mate, class!) and he can be found at: http://www.tottenhamonmymind.com although usually he doesn’t bother with the Summer Salicious Stories about Spurs but rather concentrates on the nuts and bolts of winter and its a treat really.
And I just want also to thank Ashley Collie for being kind enough in bringing a little of LA and Spurs LA to our doorstep wherever we are (Ashley we are from everywhere) My heartfelt Thanks Ashley!!!

Anyway I hope you enjoy all my hard work. Luv you all, Ronwol almost in Tinseltown.”

Is it available as an audio book?

    • Flat Oeuf 24/07/2018 at 11:34 am

Haha, you should have seen the original! I’ve already take the garden shears to it. Scalpel next.

Did you ever do those school exercises, ‘precis this down to 200 words?’ Nightmare.

        • Caspurs 24/07/2018 at 11:48 am

I think it’s safe to say Ron bunked off school that day, although he was clearly present for the lesson on fluid dynamics..

    As promised. Well done Ronwol.

How the hell are we going to fit ” we sang it in L.A. ” into our song?

Some good stories there, well done to all concerned.

  • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 11:48 am

    Interesting read Ronwol.

It feels ‘other’ to me that some fans make a considered choice as to which team they will give their support to. Not saying that’s bad, or wrong, just different.

I had to support Spurs, it was the family legacy. Interesting to read the words of supporters who made a rational choice. Rationale and footie don’t often intersect (well, not from my upbringing).

    • Hartley 24/07/2018 at 11:58 am

I grew up as a Burnley following Spurs supporter due to part geography and part legacy.

      • HD 🇺🇸 24/07/2018 at 12:17 pm

Do Spurs understand the legacy that you provide to the club?

        • Hartley 24/07/2018 at 12:39 pm

          Absolutely.

    • UnkleTaff 24/07/2018 at 12:02 pm

I’ve always felt that you don’t choose your football team, your football team chooses you.

I chose Hufflepuff but ended up in Slytherin.

        It’s a hostage situation.

    • HD 🇺🇸 24/07/2018 at 12:03 pm

Being a Spurs fan, for me, was a choice made 45 years ago. The last time they came to the USA my wife and I went to see them play the MLS All Stars in Denver. I was stunned at the number of Spurs fans. It was phenomenal support that I was unaware existed.

      • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 12:32 pm

        That’s great news.

    No politics here, spoiler.

During the last edition of the Daily Politics on BBC2, (to be replaced by something for ‘younger viewers’ apparently.)

A jolly Labour MP having a joke with a Conservative MP friend made a telling joke which struck home with telling effect:

“Your opponents sit opposite you, but your enemies sit all round you.”

    • Sexy Beast 24/07/2018 at 12:48 pm

I vote to bring back Political debate seeing as we live in a time that is so important at home in the UK with a Brexit vote that the establishment are trying to subvert, and Trump over the pond who was survielled by his political opponent which lets be honest is arguably the single most important political story in living memory, and a story that will run and run and one where people should go to prison for and will, hopefully.

They don’t know anything. It’s plain as day.
Truth is, Spurs have generally not done all that much business by the end of July – bar the occasional early signing. The cogs are just starting to turn around this time of the summer. Pick a day, pick a week to claim “expect movement next few days” and you’ll probably not be too far off. Especially with the shortened window this year.

I’m disappointed to hear a certain Marcus Edwards hasn’t been included in the US tour. His talent isn’t in dispute but, from what I’ve read his attitude lets him down. I would’ve given him the opportunity to play in the US to see whether that could be the catalyst for him to realise what he could have, in the hope he would knuckle down and work harder to achieve success.
    Shame.

  • Northern Spur 24/07/2018 at 2:10 pm

A nephew of mine has a friend who started to support Spurs after he bought one of the old shirts in a charity shop. My adoption of the lilywhites as my team – nay, my life! – as an 8-yr old Salford lad was almost equally happenchance, but I’ll save the details for when I write my debut piece for the bloeug.

    • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 2:21 pm

Hi there. Looking forward to that one.

When I was a nipper, the first match I ever attended was at Craven Cottage, then division three I think. My older relatives didn’t want to take me cold to White Hart Lane, so thought a gentle introduction to a smaller inoffensive club would do the trick. It was an eight goal thriller, and they then took me to WHL the very next Saturday as they were worried I’d follow Fulham instead! 😁

      • Sniper 24/07/2018 at 9:12 pm

Our first game in the States is at 03.05hrs on Thursday (aka 3 in the morning on Wednesday night). I’m not complaining. I remember going to the Greyhound Bar in LA at for a 4am kick off. The punters waited patiently until serving time, which was 5am I believe! They did a Full English at half time which went down a treat and the noise in there was fantastic.

I watched Brian Moore and Big League Soccer as a young lad down in little old NZ, about as far from England as you could get. Liverpool were the dominant team back then, with the likes of Souness Dalglish and the rest. For whatever reason I gravitated towards the Lilywhites

I think it was the style that Hoddle, Crooks, Archibald, Ardilles and the team played with back then. Since then it’s never been anyone else but Spurs

    • stevo1987 24/07/2018 at 2:54 pm

There is just one payer that I can’t name in that pic. Though, I think he was a right back and was signed from Villa. First name might be Gordon? Not sure. There are a couple in tracksuits I can’t get. Bottom left. Garry Brooke I thought he was going to be a hell of a player. Shame about the car crash. He never fully recovered.

                • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 5:30 pm

Seems Georgio Masson was the same person as Giorgio Mazzon, who made seven appearances before heading off to Aldershot.
                  Found this on t’internet:

[Steve] Claridge hated it at Cambridge, a complete contrast to life at his previous club, Aldershot. “I loved it there, even though we didn’t get paid for 15 weeks and were on the verge of going out of business all the time,” he says.

“Our midfield playmaker, Giorgio Mazzon, actually had a disabled sticker on his car after breaking his back in a car crash. But he didn’t look out of place at Aldershot. There were worse players than him there.

“What a place! We refused to train in in the local park because the pitch was always covered in dog s***. So we trained on the car park, which was always flooded.”

Looking for advice. Have a bees nest (95% sure it’s not wasps) in my roof space. Can’t get access to it inside without ripping down plasterboard walls in loft extension. Externally bees just entering through tiny hole in sofit. Local amateur bee keeper says if it’s bees then they won’t cause any damage if its wasps they’ll use timber to create their nest ( not good). Pay and get exterminators in or leave alone?

I found him.. He was really great Andy… What I did find in the late 80’s or early 90’s was a copy of Spurs Supreme, not the copy I loaned someone I didn’t get back… But another copy that I bought off of a reseller on the T High Street.
It was a report of every game in 60-61. I literally shook when I saw it.

              • Bardamu 24/07/2018 at 7:35 pm

I’d already been to every game and bought the original book but if you are asking about what kind of time it was or the feeling that season… It was really breathtaking. The book I could look at and relive it.
for me 1960-61 was a religious EXPERIENCE and the book was the story…the Torah if you will.
I was thirteen. It was powerful.

Eight goals in the semi-final eh?

Now we see the importance of punctuation.

    Leave the little critters alone!

    • AntSpurs 24/07/2018 at 9:16 pm

I agree, I had a bees nest right above the front door which took a little ducking and diving at first. I spoke to an expert who was great who explained his 4 year old grandson plays around near hives (thought that was a little extreme) and is never bothered. He offered to deal with it but suggested it was much better to leave them alone which I did. They didn’t bother anyone and these were the big fuzzy ones with the white tips on their bottoms. They cleared out pretty quick.

It’s great news if I can pull it off. I haven’t had the energy as I was ripped off as you know by 2 in particular if the largest healthcare organisations in the Uk. Not only did they do so, they have benn laughing about it too. It finished me and have been suffering since , largely because of the debts left, but my energy levels evaporated and became very angry. Well that part hasn’t now passed , it’s close to £1M I’m owed and sold everything to keep going but I now feel able to deal with it again as I am right and just need to finish the job. I was running a healthcare recruitment consultancy and they did all this knowing me and knowing the result of their theft. I almost gave up hope but there’s some light now. That could be the light of a train coming towards me 😜but I have to finish the job I started .it was never about money for me but what I could do with it to help. Took me a long time to realise that getting emotional and fired up although a great motivator can burn you up so I’m playing it much cooler now. Like a game.

Cheers Ron. Was extremely wet behind the ears when it came to business. Knew my job almost perfectly and was better than 95%. I know that because I worked at most of the places before I started up and they were light years behind. Sounds a little arrogant but true. What I was doing in a team of 3 was bashing the big boys and I improved our systems (all before collecting the money owed) another big mistake , we’ll not if they paid me. Anyways the blueprint is written but getting it going again. I could read 200 Cvs to start my day before 8am and have interviewed enough to fill 6 jobs before any other agent has got their desk. Sometimes I wouldn’t sleep for almost 3 days. I’d lay down, the phone would ring and if take another call and interview at anytime. We were doing 50k a week with just me and my father who had the boring task of pulling off emails 8 hours a day ready for action. Anyways that has passed and I now struggling to even put a business plan together so. Violins away 🙄….and action (cut). Thanks that’s all for now

Makes you wonder how Fulham and Everton can comply with FFP. Mind you, I’m not up with the latest regulations, I just assume rich owners can’t inject their own money into clubs to afford to buy expensive players, although it looks like that is precisely what is happening.

        • Sniper 24/07/2018 at 11:16 pm

It’s more about debt than cash being spunked away, I think.

        • GDawg 24/07/2018 at 11:19 pm

There is always a way around it. I’m sure Citeh’s deal with Etihad (basically the family business) probably generates more than market rate… Chelski owe Abramovich almost 2 Bn quid

          • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 11:41 pm

City are very professional. They drive a bus through FFP. Etihad airways are pumping money into the club several ways, not just the obvious ones. For instance the training ground is name sponsored, as well as the stadium. Land around the stadium is being jointly developed with Manchester Council (so Spurs aren’t alone there) and the development area is the ‘Etihad Campus’, and that is more sponsorship money that flows back.

            • GDawg 24/07/2018 at 11:46 pm

Plus there is their associations with clubs around the world, they own one in the MLS don’t they? I’m sure there are plenty of ways to get around FFP, especially for the top clubs

    • ronwol196061 24/07/2018 at 10:56 pm

    • McG ⚽⚽ 24/07/2018 at 11:05 pm

Meant to say nice work earlier, found it quite interesting. You thought of introducing this blog to any of them??

Some of these LA spurs lot I guess!

          • ronwol196061 24/07/2018 at 11:41 pm

No I wasnt there…I asked a journalist friend who is a Spurs supporter to send me an article from LA to introduce him and wots going on there as we were playing there.

          • ashley collie 25/07/2018 at 5:32 am

McG, I’m the ex-pat journalist who’s a member of LA Spurs, we’re doing a Legends Night with Ledders and SickNote on Friday in LA, then playing Barca on Sat with the young lads. I’m happy to have found you guys, having met Ron at HH, and not seeing him for long while as I’ve avoided the BoyHotspur and his rambling, bullying rants. WTF-ever! Anyway, hello to you flat-oeufers!

            • Syd 25/07/2018 at 6:48 am

Hi Ash from Down under, great to see you here. Hope some of your other LA Spurs people come along.

        • Sniper 24/07/2018 at 11:12 pm

          Yeah. Nice work Ronwoldo!

It’s fascinating to find out how or why people found Spurs. Moreso for Yanks! It reminds me of the Jasper Carrott story about taking his mate to Old Trafford, whom had just found football after following rallying. “It must be the colours or sumfing.”

          • GDawg 24/07/2018 at 11:16 pm

I was definitely drawn to the colours. I seem to remember back in the 80/81 season there were two teams with similar strips,

I could have ended up a Swans supporter LOL

          • ronwol196061 24/07/2018 at 11:47 pm

Don’t worry, I will figure it out. I am just frustrated because I don’t want to publish junk or shit.

What makes you so special? Huh?

    • HD 24/07/2018 at 11:11 pm

Nothing. Just a bit anal and not as good at it as some, you. How about I write one, email it to you for review and wait for my grade.

      • Fat Bertha 24/07/2018 at 11:16 pm

I meant … everyone else posts junk, if you don’t believe me ask Flat Oeuf!

      • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 11:22 pm

Don’t do yourself down Hornmeister. As said above, there are writing methods, a good start is often jotting down as single sentences or even a shopping list of points you want to make, and deciding in what order to arrange them. You find it tends to grow and grow.

    Stadium news:
I have been informed by someone who will shortly be returning to work for the club, that during his meeting the club informed him the new abode will be closer to the pitch than had been originally planned. Woohoo!
    Original plans stated:
East, west and north stands were 7m, whilst south was 5m. Now all stands are now approximately 5m from pitch side.
As an example, the ars = 7m at the sides, 13m behind the goals.
Spam = two trains, a bus, and a twenty minute walk from the sides, one plane, a slow boat to china and a brisk 20 mile hike behind the goal.
    COYS!!

    • Chauvelin 24/07/2018 at 11:24 pm

And when they arrive they wished they hadn’t bothered.

It’s on Thursday morning. For anyone with virgin have been given 2 months free Premier Sports on channel 551. Making up for the removal of Dave, Gold and a number of other channels. Kick off 3.05 am

  • AntSpurs 24/07/2018 at 11:58 pm

Easiest way to remember is USA is behind. So add the hours for us.

    • AntSpurs 24/07/2018 at 11:59 pm

So Barca is 4.05 on Sunday

    • HD 🇺🇸 25/07/2018 at 12:01 am

        Right.

    • Sniper 25/07/2018 at 12:07 am

Alright you smug buggers try working it out when you live in New Zealand!
Sometimes we are twelve hours plus one hour ahead of UK. Sometimes twelve hours minus an hour. To calculate when kick-off is in the USA (depending on which coast) needs a degree in quantum physics and an in depth understanding of the theory of relativity!

      • Sniper 25/07/2018 at 12:08 am

        … and which day!!!!

      • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:10 am

But not Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics?

        • Sniper 25/07/2018 at 12:23 am

No. That’s a piece of piss compared to calculating kick-offs.

  • ronwol196061 25/07/2018 at 12:00 am

Damn right. This is great anyways. I don’t wanna say I don’t care because I’m loyal and know if it feels like something’s gone which I started but he has it in his hands.

      • ronwol196061 25/07/2018 at 12:05 am

        I feel the same Ant.

          • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:11 am

Massive respect for flats, all the flats for doing it. It’s a massive commitment and we are all fine. We don’t need anything else other than I feel bad for him. I don’t believe TBH wanted this, and misconstrued his edge. His place for us all together and that is a beautiful thing whatever he says.

            • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:15 am

Having started this relentless monologue of ‘binning the dumb dumbs’, which he more or less says on each blog, he has little room to manoeuvre without losing his alpha dog status.

              • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:19 am

Exactly it’s almost impossible for him. If his site is not about income (that’s more understandable) then he should make amends. We were all (not me so much I was only around for a few years) but even still to mug us off like that, I am concerned a little.

        • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:08 am

Yep. I can forgive almost anything but they have to say they were wrong or admit something. He ain’t got that in him I don’t want think. Only for his persona and how it would kill what he has. I think he lost his way and did not realise how much bigger his site had become and the importance other than to express his views.

          • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 12:11 am

It wasn’t always like that. I mean there was never much Levy love, and I get that. But it got more and more extreme as time went on, and the negativity these days is overwhelming, especially when you step away for a bit and pop back in for a moment

            • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:12 am

It’s his baby and his audience outgrew him.

              • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 12:15 am

Times change, people change. And some stay the same. I like it here, all the people I enjoyed bantering with are here

                • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:17 am

Yeah man for sures, I just can’t help feeling bad for him. If he doesn’t care really then who gives a fuck but I feel it’s more than that. I just reckon his ego got the better of him.

                  • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 12:21 am

I stayed longer than most, and would still be there if not for our Toronto pal 🙂 I did not care for the personal abuses towards people who I cared for their opinions, when I knew they were not what he said they were. Bitter and twisted gets old, if you can’t tolerate a bit of futility then go support Man Citeh because ENIC are not going anywhere and there is NOTHING the fans can do. 80K people at Wembley for matches last year tells you the fans have spoken

                    • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:31 am

And that winds him up intensely. In his mind, can’t they see they are all mugs?

                    • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 12:33 am

“Am I only the only one who gives a shit that ENIC are mugs??!!!?!”

            • Bardamu 25/07/2018 at 12:15 am

If I pop back now I don’t recognise the place. It’s okay to have a laugh occasionally, lads. No? Okay, carry on…

    • 61SpursNut 25/07/2018 at 12:13 am

We did have this mood elsewhere. Unfortunately not everyone wanted to engage with it for reasons best known to themselves. The “man” “in charge” decided he didn’t want our good mood or style of reasoned debates and resorted to what we all know so most of us left, of our own accord, and I’m glad we did. No regrets at all here and nothing is owed to him and I do not wish him well.

      • Sniper 25/07/2018 at 12:18 am

My take on it is that he simply provided a conduit through all these characters could channel the humour, banter and general bonhomie around a shared interest. He used to be funny and witty.
Eventually, I didn’t bother to read most of what was posted as the given blog subject. It got more and more negative. Instead, I think we just all enjoyed bouncing around having a bit of a laugh together. He tried to join in but was too bitter and self-serving to allow it to continue.
It feels just like it should right here! Got no time for the bloke.

        • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 12:24 am

He provided the place, then tried to kill the spirit. Just like he wanted from the fans toward ENIC, the people spoke with their feet

      • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:19 am

The only thing I can imagine, is that he is trying to acquire a position in the market, for commercial reasons. The most extreme, unyielding anti-ENIC blog. Come here for a rant.

        • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:20 am

          Or he’s not well

              Nah!

              • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:25 am

If he is or even if not I’m up for giving him time. I feel I owe him anyways.

              • Sniper 25/07/2018 at 12:25 am

                He has issues.
He’s a little fat flappy eared twat who knows nothing about football or construction.
Should stick to selling tacky tee shirts.

              • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:26 am

Everything has collapsed to black or white, agree or disagree. Binary, no grey areas, no consensus. A simplistic view of the world.

                • AntSpurs 25/07/2018 at 12:27 am

And that is worrisome for me, I’ve seen it before I may be wrong but he’s not being rational.

                  • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 12:28 am

Did Ron mention something about liking HBO’s eye-opening new series, Sharp Objects— BTW, even men self-harm and cut, I’ve found out — anyway, I am a full-time journalist, and lifelong Spurs fan (originally from Newport, Wales, now in Hollywood) and here’s my story on Amy Adams and Sharp Objects: http://www.themovienetwork.ca/movie-entertainment/article/Amy-Adams-Sharp-Objects

    • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 6:26 am

Welcome Ashley. You must have been intrigued to see the FA Cup draw between Newport and Spurs! Somewhat of a struggle to get over the line as it happened. They didn’t make it easy for us and did themselves proud.

      • ashley collie 25/07/2018 at 6:34 am

Cheers, mate, I wrote about if of course. Newport is who I am, Spurs are who I aspire to. I went to school right next to the old Somerton Park. And, here in LA, watching the first and second games at our LA Spurs patch, our lads were singing the round of “we hate Arsenal” “we hate Chelsea” “we hate West Ham…” All the London teams. Then they looked to me and I nodded, sure. “We hate Newport…we are the Newport haters!” Very funny – https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/newport-county-football-club-in-my-welsh-blood-and_us_58c89c1ce4b05675ee9c5b80

        • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 6:42 am

You must have been so proud. I hope County can prosper after their long spell out of the league, and the gate and TV money must have helped. Maybe they can draw Arsenal this year and beat them. Wouldn’t that be great!

Morning all, may I just say that I personally know Donna Cullen

      • Flat Oeuf 25/07/2018 at 8:48 am

I think any ‘contrary beliefs’ are the result of rabid propaganda from the other place. I’ve no doubt she’s a very nice lady and she’s doing a great job at Spurs.

        • Superspoz 🏆 25/07/2018 at 8:56 am

When transfers go wrong. Here’s the scoop on what happened when Malcom, his agent and Bordeaux went back on an agreement with Roma for his transfer:

    https://twitter.com/asromaen/status/1021850003965280256?s=21

Can you imagine the squeals if he’d done that to us? Well, you don’t have to, we have our own example of that in W******.

Just goes to show this transfer window business is not as easy as some would like to believe.

    • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 9:17 am

Here’s the great man’s opinion of Malcom from the his outpouring of 31st December last.

      ‘You sad lonely sea lions.

This Bordeaux ‘attacker’ is another defective no mark from France waiting to sting whichever poor git ends up shelling out for him.

The boy’s in his third season for Bordeaux and he’s scored 15 times in 60 odd appearances. Yet you want to believe that he’s worth up to £40million?

Why do you do it to yourselves?’

      😶😶😶😶😶😶😶😶😶
      Why indeed?
And yet he ends up being chased by Barcelona. Funny that.

      • Bardamu 25/07/2018 at 9:26 am

Word is that we chose Moura over Malcom in January (not sure how reliable). Not sure who is in charge of recruitment at Barca these days but it’s a bit of a surprising one for a club of their stature when, as far as I’m aware, he hasn’t really done anything yet – then again, they bought Paulinho too.

      • GDawg 25/07/2018 at 9:27 am

If that scouting and recruitment lark was that easy we’d be top of the league

        • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 9:32 am

I just think it’s the knee jerk attitude that anyone we might land at Spurs must be shit by definition that was one of the B**’s most endearing qualities. And Lucas Moura gets it with both barrels despite everyone knowing when he arrived in January he was not match fit and needing time and tlc.

          • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 9:37 am

And of course every youngster at the academy must be damned from the start.

            Guilty until proven innocent.

  • Chauvelin 25/07/2018 at 9:27 am

I presume Roma and Barcelona will play in this competition in the US? That’s an added bit of needle to make it more than a friendly.

    • Bardamu 25/07/2018 at 9:31 am

      (US tannoy to crowd)
“Next up we have the player who Tottenham considered, who nearly signed for Roma but pulled out for Barca….
Give it up for Malcom, everybody!”

  • Bardamu 25/07/2018 at 9:42 am

On Toby, a chap I follow on the Twit states “Toby’s overplayed his hand and as a result no club is moving heaven and earth to get him. His camp are even looking into the legalities of his clause. Meanwhile Levy is sat there saying you made your bed… Still possible he moves this window but a mess.”

I know he chats to journalists regularly so I suppose this is ‘ITK’.
Can’t claim it to be gospel but it sounds a bit more credible than the SC stuff.

    • Flat Oeuf 25/07/2018 at 9:49 am

Thanks, Bard. Pls pop that on the new bloeug.
