I’ve only watched the highlights on YouTube. Would it be fair to say AC had half a dozen decent chances first half and should have won that by two or three goals? Nice shot by N’Koudou for his goal.

  • SpurAndy πŸ’ πŸ₯§ 01/08/2018 at 9:52 am

Sniper is the new Motty, Snotty :). Excellent stuff and I’d agree with him if I understood anything about formations. Just finished watching and I was impressed with them all. I think our academy is in a good place. They all done well but if I had to pick, Amos would be my stand out from the 3 matches.

  • SpurAndy πŸ’ πŸ₯§ 01/08/2018 at 9:56 am

So did we win a cup?

    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:06 am

Juventus or A****** both have a match to go and could take top spot away from us with a win.

      • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:07 am

There are some teams to even play, like Lyon.

  • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 10:03 am

Okay. The International Champions Cup. Here’s how it works.

Eighteen teams are taking part across the globe and everyone will be playing three games for the duration of the tournament. In the event of a drawn game both teams get a point, but the match then goes to penalties and the penalty shoot-out winners receive a bonus point.

Even though most of the teams don’t play each other the results are collated into a league table and whoever is top after all matches have been played are crowned champions.

Current leaders (having played all their three games) are…

    …the mighty Tottingham Hotspurs.

And assuming my maffs is correct, only Juventus, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Lyon can finish above us.

I know a lot of B-teams are being put out, but it’s arguably the best collection of European teams ever gathered together for one tournament. Winning it would be a real feather in our cap.

    • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:05 am

      *Tottenham Hotspur

No ‘S’ on the end of Hotspur.
      Thank you!

    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:09 am

My maffs says those are the only ones.

    • SpurAndy πŸ’ πŸ₯§ 01/08/2018 at 10:19 am

Have to say for compared to the normal pre season tosh this comp has been a decent success.

      • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:23 am

I would say it has been a brilliant workout for the youngsters and squad.
Three very pleasing results against three very decent sides.
Poch has a system and the games showed our younger players can adapt to it very well.
Chance for them to show their potential. Which they did.

        • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:29 am

You should see the narky level of comments at t’other place. You’d think they’d take some comfort from these games, but they look for the negatives.

          • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 10:31 am

I had a quick look earlier. The relentless negativity is overwhelming.

          • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:31 am

I reckon all who persist there deserve each other. The negative whining and moaning and general malaise is depressing. I begin to wonder whether the IQ of all the posters combined amounts to above 100.

          • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 10:33 am

Someone took exception to Hatespur likening Levy to Goebbels. Hatespur gave him short shrift and then that Aussi slug slithered up to Hatespur bottom and drank deeply.

            • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 10:34 am

I didn’t see the offending comment so don’t know it was a justified rebuke.

            • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:34 am

              I take it back.
IQ combined amounts to less than 90.

              • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 10:38 am

Remember the “Big Reveal” apparently it’s “Less of a reveal, more of a humiliation”. Apparently me and Real Fan have small willies. Yep. Just as I thought. Slither away, nothing to destroy here.

                • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:40 am

He’s a real headcase that one.
Someone needs to fetch him a slap upside the chops.
Bet there’s a huge queue out there!

                • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 10:41 am

…and that’s nothing we didn’t already know anyway.

                  • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 10:42 am

Well … ahem … one of has. One of us is just fat … and cold.

                    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:46 am

You’ve both got big balls though.

                    • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 10:49 am

Actually, he’s got both of the big balls.

            • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 10:36 am

I had a spat with Aussie whose views being expressed I found repellant even within the context of the site.

    • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 10:23 am

…and a number of the teams I listed have to play each other … so I’d say it’s unlikely we’ll finish any lower than third.

And Juventus need to beat Real Madrid to finish above us.

Any admins awake in the inner sanctum?

Haven’t been able to get on it since I’ve been away. Back on Friday.

    • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 10:07 am

I shall translate that for you:-

  • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 11:07 am

Just had the first of Hatespur’s emails. You can guess the tone. It’s a scandalously poor any of my letter to him. Still full of threats and abuse. He can’t help himself.

    • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 11:13 am

He’s cut my letter from a PDF and pasted it into an email and tried to be clever by changing some names around! He hasn’t even done that right! Hahaha.

  • Ronwol1960-61πŸ•Žβš½πŸŽ·πŸŽ₯ 01/08/2018 at 11:09 am

    Sniper

    Sniper
Not a bad first half. (For the benefit of those who missed it, a summary).
Our pressing was again good first half. We are rather reliant on getting crosses in for Llorente to get on the end of. Moura has looked lively again and threatening with the ball at his feet. Most their dangerous moves have come down our left flank against Georgiou, who has been decent. Sanchez has looked classy and held the back four together. Eyoma at centre half alongside Sanchez has been guilty of ball watching a couple of times and letting players pull away from him and behind. A couple of good chances created in the air, with Vorm making a sharp save. Skipp has looked lively. KWP getting forward and been our main supply of crosses. N’Koudou been relatively quiet. Amos and Marsh been workmanlike and looked to push the ball around.

Second half. Gazza in goal instead of Vorm. Again, the youngsters were full of energy and pressing the opponents when in possession. Amos, Marsh and Skipp all contributed well, worked their socks off. 1-0! N’Koudou smashed home from the edge of the Milan box on 47 minutes with a rising effort into the top left hand corner. Eyoma settled into his work and looked a bit more solid. Sanchez looks every ounce the class player we need. KWP getting forward right side continued to be a threat, but needs to take his defending responsibilities on board. Georgiou looked assured and talented at left back. Llorente (ineffective in first half) and Moura off and replaced by Sonny and Eriksen. Sonny now playing the target man up front in a 4-2-3-1 with Eriksen slotted in right side and N’Koudou left. AC Milan continued to threaten in the air and Gazza forced into a couple of good saves. Solid keeper! Still pressing the opponents in the 83rd minute! Davies and Aurier on. We are seeing the game out in a 4-3-3 with N’Koudou switched to right, Eriksen centre and Sonny left. Final whistle and a good victory.
That’s Roma, Barca and AC Milan. Two wins and a draw! A good series of preparation games pre-season. The youngsters have impressed. Moura looks a real handful. Georgiou and N’Koudou are first team squad prospects. KWP shone above the rest.
Expect to see more of the system played here: 4-2-3-1 set up which transforms into 3-3-3-1 in possession and attack. Players rotating positions. Full backs pushing forward and DM’s dropping to make a back three.

Some really good reporting there Sniper.

TalkingPicturesTV is a remarkable channel. Just broadcast a British film from 1935 which probably hasn’t been seen in many a long decade. SciFi fantasy about an English village plucked into space by a tiny star passing the Earth. A real quaint curiosity.

    • 61SpursNut 01/08/2018 at 11:37 am

      Is that on freeview?

  • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 12:02 pm

I had a look at the GDPR stuff last night and then at his own ‘Privacy Policy’. Pah! The man runs roughshod over it with nary a care. How can he be so nasty to so many people so often and break criminal and civil laws? Because most people haven’t the time, knowledge or energy to do anything about it.

The new GDPR regs are designed to protect people like us, ordinary people who foolishly trust people like him with our private details and, I’m ashamed to say, our friendship. I used to stick up for him thinking he was an edgy bloke playing a part. He’s neither an edgy bloke or playing a part.

So after the 9 abusive, threatening emails he sent me, 7 of which I did not reply to, (the first two I did because I hadn’t realised how mad he was); and his drawing my dad into his mess; and then insinuating that I’d been hacking wordpress accounts; and calling me, and us cunts; and allowing the truly repugnant AIS to call us kiddie fiddlers; and his incessant veiled threats to have a ‘Big Reveal’ about me and Fanny; and his highjacking our private FFL email thread to spread lies and discord; and explicit threats to ruin Fanny’s livelihood and expose me to someone I did some work some years ago, I finally realised my data was not safe in his hands.

I decided before I go to the police to report him harrassment, I’d exercise my legal rights under GDPR regs and HIS OWN privacy policy and make a subject access request asking for a copy of every piece of data he has that could identify me, and then under GPPR regs and HIS OWN privacy policy ask him to delete everything.

Every email, every comment on every blog since day dot. He HAS to comply with this request within 30 days or explain to the authorities why he hasn’t.

His response? Apart from the infantile parody of my letter? Here:

    Hey Dummy,Β
    Great to hear from you!
I wish to be wholly compliant and request the very same.Β
    See attached.Β
You’re soooo stoopid you still don’t realise where the reveal/humiliation is coming from.Β
    Such fun.Β
You have 30 days and do not forget to read the fine print – even the stuff you omitted from this document!Β
    Chop chop, Dumb Dumb.

I think it’s time for the Big Reveal. Will you do it FO? Or shall I? What about you Harry? Do you want to tell everyone what we did that so enraged you? I’m happy to, I’ve already told my mates here what it is, but it might be better coming from you. Post it here and one of the admins will approve it.

In the meantime, I encourage any of you reading this who have been personally abused and / or troubled by this man to submit a perfectly legal GDPR subject access request to him asking 1. for a copy of any data he has that could identify you IE email addresses, IP addresses; and 2. for him to delete every trace of you from his blog. A proper purge.

    Time for a Taff prediction:

Wilfied Zaha and Jack Grealish will both be Spurs players by the close of this transfer window.

Thus bringing the number of our homegrown contingent up to the required eight.

HaHa post of the week for me.

  • Fat Bertha 01/08/2018 at 12:24 pm

The genuinely saddest thing for me is this: I’ve always been pretty open about myself and my past and experiences. When I revealed that I was studying law with a view to a career charge, I got nothing but love and support. I was pretty open about the whole struggle, but I NEVER mentioned where I’d got some entry level work experience with a faint hope of something more, except to one solitary person. The only person to EVER actually ask me what the firm was called. I remember the conversation and him reasurring me that him knowing wouldn’t mean anything. I remember the words and I the way I felt when I told him. Sick in the guts.

When the two blogs parted we went separate ways. No trouble or angst or judgment. Just love and respect. I still have the text messages. I keep everything.
Guess what? When Harry went mad he named the firm I’d been at and threatened to ‘expose’ my dark behaviour there. There is no way he could have known the name. I didn’t drop it. He’s not clever enough to work it out. He was told.

I don’t know if he was stupid enough to carry out his threat. We’ll see.

Make of that what you will. It’s my side of the story only. I won’t mention names because I can’t prove it was him.

Does Zaha count has home grown considering he is from and plays for the Ivory Coast

    • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 12:56 pm

Yes. Like Fabregas he’s spent long enough in this country to qualify.

      • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 12:57 pm

Solely for the PL. Not the EUFA competitions, so Davies is homegrown for the first but counts as a foreigner for the CL. Barmy.

        • Bardamu 01/08/2018 at 1:00 pm

All very odd. Seems like the rule needs a review really.

          • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 1:07 pm

But that’s what we love about the game. Just like the uneven transfer windows.

        • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 1:04 pm

To clarify, Davies was brought up through the Swansea academy and is therefore considered to be an overseas player as far as the Cl is concerned (but is homegrown for the PL). Both Zaha and Fabregas spent long enough at Palace and Arsenal respectively to be considered as homegrown for both the Premier and Champions Leagues.

          • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 1:09 pm

Splendid. But since Swansea compete in the Premier League, I still don’t see the problem with Davies. It appears to be spite that England and Wales have separate national FA’s rather than any other reason.

            • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 1:10 pm

Or rather, Swansea compete in the ‘English’ league system.

            • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 1:14 pm

The Welsh have both their own FA and national sides. This undoubtedly influences UEFA in their policy making.

Various reports that Spurs will lodge a 20 million pound bid for Grealish. Irrespective of that amount, I am curious as to what has been happening so far. Unofficial or official negotiations? Or has it been entirely press speculation?

    • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 1:36 pm

As previously speculated, it’s unlikely that talks would have taken place whilst Villa were negotiating with the new investors.

      • Bardamu 01/08/2018 at 1:52 pm

We heard a few “talks ongoing” reports, then it was seemingly “off” and the past 24 hours it’s been a case of us seemingly wanting to wrap up the deal. Oh, to be a fly on that wall…

        • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 2:01 pm

We couldn’t approach Jack without approval as that would be unethical. There must have been some sounding out at club level, probably Villa felt bound to pass on to him that there was interest to see how he felt.

Wanyama I think is injured so even Dembele can go DM and one of the other lads can try and create from the CM position or someone new

Basically we haven’t replaced Modric. But who could? There are few players of his ilk around in the world. But we need to find someone who can sit back and ping it around. I hoped Winks could be that guy but to date he has been too lateral. Perhaps Skippy could be that guy one day. Kovacic could be that guy now

Eriksen is an excellent player for us, by Modric has more fire. He went to RM, and under the weight of all that expectation went from an unknown to one of the first names on the team sheet

    Nice.

I’d be chuffed if Spurs were to sign Kovacic but, I have a feeling it would be a difficult signing to make, even on a good day. RM and Perez in particular don’t like to be denied what they want, in this case, getting their hands on Pochettino. The door was firmly shut regarding their (reported) approach for Poch, so I believe RM (Perez in particular) would rebuff any inquiry from Spurs regarding Kovacic, or simply demand an exorbitant fee for the player instead.

    • ronwol196061 01/08/2018 at 3:59 pm

I can’t see that reaction Cas. Maybe they will want Eriksen after Modric retires… They won’t want to burn that bridge
By the same token I can’t see Kovacic coming to us as there has been no smoke about it at all.
      But… You never know

    • Bruxie πŸ™ˆ 01/08/2018 at 4:05 pm

Don’t agree. We need such a player if Dembele is going. Would rather see him than most. RM are flush with Ronaldo money…they want a Naymar or Mbappe.

    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 4:29 pm

      Fore!

  • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 4:28 pm

My main concern is getting our existing players fit. It’s always a blow to see injuries cropping up during the summer. Currently Winks, Wanyama, Onomah and Foyth definitely out for the first match, and Lamela and Sissoko maybe. Trippier didn’t look 100% after his World Cup and neither did Rose, Kane and Dele either.

A lot to be expected of Dier to hold midfield together in August, and in the circumstances I’d prefer Dembele to see out this season. If he could play for the first three months and then be rested it could get us out of the current injury hole.

    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 4:38 pm

I’m basing the opening of the season on no new signings. If anything does happen in the remaining 8 days they still lack a preseason.
Last season, 5 transfers in final 9 days.

      Walker did

      • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 5:59 pm

He had more foul throws in one game than every other PL team managed throughout the entire season.

He is now and always will be a liability who needs to be shown the exit door ASAP.

        • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 6:09 pm

…added to which he’s 25. If he was capable of maturing he’d have done it by now.

I maintain my assertion that if Walker-Peters had had the game time that Aurier had last season we’d have a PL-ready footballer on our hands by now.

From what I’ve seen from Walker Peter’s in all the games he looked a defensive liability especially for his positioning. Different story going forward though

            • stevo1987 01/08/2018 at 7:59 pm

Maybe KWP was being played out of position though Ron? He’s more right sided I think.

  • cookiebun 01/08/2018 at 5:59 pm

The thought of Zaha coming in fills me with dread. We either get Martial in the Alderweireld deal or Alderweireld stays. No way should we do business with Manure unless they reciprocate.

    Nice.

I’m pretty certain that I read he doesn’t want to play for Poch either.

    • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 6:30 pm

Indeed. He went on record to say that if Pochettino took over at Madrid he’d leave.

          Insert red-faced emoji here.

  • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 6:55 pm

I’ve just seen that Walker-Peters was given the MotM award for the Milan game this morning.

    https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/tottenham-fans-on-twitter-are-raving-over-this-21-year-old-after-milan-performance/

At the rate he’s picking these awards up he’ll soon be needing a cabinet in which to keep them all.

    • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 7:01 pm

Does it mention him being caught out of position on several occasions, almost gifting Milan a goal?
For me, he needs to go out on loan for a season, perhaps Leeds would be a good destination?

      • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 7:05 pm

I don’t accept this “out of position” malarkey. Wing backs are encouraged to get forward. If they’re upfield when an attack breaks down it is the responsibility of one of the DMs to cover for them.

Loaning him out whilst keeping Aurier just seems bonkers to me.

        • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 7:11 pm

As I saw the game, I shall believe what I saw.

        • ronwol196061 01/08/2018 at 7:32 pm

The Barça game he was diabolical
In the Milan game he was great going forward. They must have noticed that.
          But others were too.
Defensively in 3 games.. Iffy was the best I could muster about him

          • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 7:43 pm

He shows promise, but I’m not sure he’s good enough yet to be considered first team quality. Sending him out on loan to Leeds (for example) would be a good experience for him, being able to play competitive football in a system similar to ours, with a similar training schedule can only be good. Both Rose and Walker were loaned out to Sunderland and Villa respectively, both excelled, which proved to be invaluable in their development.

            • stevo1987 01/08/2018 at 8:02 pm

As I said earlier he’s more right sided but has been played on the left. Maybe not his best position.

              • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 8:05 pm

I saw that, but I still think he has more to learn, hence my point about a loan.

BREAKING: Manchester United are fining Anthony Martial Β£180,000 (two-weeks wages) for going AWOL from US tour. All-but spells the end of his #MUFC career.

    • SeattleSpursGuy 01/08/2018 at 7:26 pm

Β£180,000 for two-weeks? He’ll earn that back at Spurs in a month or two.

However, it seems to have been forgotten by some that every new father is legally entitled to two weeks paternity leave – including professional footballers.

Martial is well within his right to spend time away from United to ensure his partner and new-born son, Swan, are safe and well.

      United are behaving like twits.

Keep losing connection, happened all through last Summer and this.
Rang BT, on phone almost an hour, basically unplugged everything and switched it all off, then put it back together, working fine for a few days, then reverted to type.
They sent a new hub last week, worked for 48 hours, then back to square one.
Currently switching it on and off when it crashes, sometimes that fixes it for a bit. It worked for 2 hours today, sending this from friends house.
Need to find time to ring BT but seems the hotter the weather the less it works.

        The football was incredibly coherent

        • ronwol196061 01/08/2018 at 11:05 pm

          United that is

        • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:06 pm

      What?

      • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 11:19 pm

        Exactly.

        • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:21 pm

          Just googling him now.

          • Hartley 01/08/2018 at 11:22 pm

            He’s a Yorkshireman, early 20’s, England youth…

            • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:23 pm

              Sounds like a cricketer.

                  • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 11:27 pm

                    Don’t want any frickin’ Yorkshiremen.
                    They drink too much.

                    • Hartley 02/08/2018 at 12:33 am

That’s where my β€˜we do’ was destined, ffs.

                      Hic

                • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 11:27 pm

Recently named (by someone) as one of the PL youngsters worth keeping an eye on in the forthcoming season. He captained England U-20s to their World Cup triumph last year.

If Pochettino really wants him that’s good enough for me.

                  • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:29 pm

                    OFTF.

                    • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 11:31 pm

Not at Β£30m he wouldn’t be, I’d’ve thought..

Question is, assuming this story has legs would Cook be as well as Grealish or instead of him?

                    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:34 pm

I’d have thought alternative. Whichever came in of the two would be the one to make the England squad. Grealish would be sick if he misses out.

                    • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 11:37 pm

Could be a smokescreen to scare Villa into selling Grealish at a price we want.

                    • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:40 pm

                      And neither for 30 million.

            • Caspurs 01/08/2018 at 11:25 pm

I can neither confirm or deny your assertions.

        • Sniper 01/08/2018 at 11:22 pm

Him and the bloke from Watford, apparently.
These journo’s are scratching around looking for something to report about Spurs and transfers.
Or clutching at straws. Or going out on a limb, flying a kite, putting it out there, etc..

          • Chauvelin 01/08/2018 at 11:24 pm

Down to our 5th choices then. Be him and N’Zonzi.

          • ronwol196061 01/08/2018 at 11:25 pm

            We are clutching at straws

              Or;
              Flying a kite?
              Going out on a limb?

  • UnkleTaff 01/08/2018 at 11:19 pm

    International Champions Cup update:

Following today’s results we’ll finish this thing in third position at worst. Only Juventus (who need to beat Real Madrid), Lyon (who have games against Inter Milan and Chelsea) and Inter Milan themselves can finish above us.

            • Sniper 02/08/2018 at 2:37 am

Yeah. Look where it got you.

If Spurs win the ICC I think Harry Kane should claim it just to wind up Liverpool fans…

  • Chauvelin 02/08/2018 at 8:08 am

So the great cull has been instigated on t’other place.

            • Sniper 02/08/2018 at 9:06 am

No. I am simply equating it to having to delete all the posts on his blog since day one.

  • Chauvelin 02/08/2018 at 9:01 am

Where is FoF holidaying? It’s getting ridiculously hot in the Mediterranean.

    • Bardamu 02/08/2018 at 9:45 am

Are you suggesting he’s warming up the Med?

      • Chauvelin 02/08/2018 at 9:46 am

        It’s the friction…

  • Chauvelin 02/08/2018 at 9:16 am

If Grealish goes to Cheatski he can sit on the bench next to Barkley.

    • Bardamu 02/08/2018 at 9:44 am

And Drinkwater who picks up Β£120k a week and never plays.

      • Chauvelin 02/08/2018 at 9:50 am

Drinkwater is getting swapped for Zaha…

If there’s one thing which makes Chelsea fans happy, it’s screwing about with Spurs.

        • Bardamu 02/08/2018 at 9:52 am

It’s beyond laughable how many times we are both linked to a player and we lose out. When will it end?

  • Flat Oeuf 02/08/2018 at 10:02 am

New bloeug, gents. I hadn’t read last night’s comments and can now see it chimes with some of those:
