  • SeattleSpursGuy 29/11/2018 at 2:18 am

Everyone loves a redemption arc. Two months ago, Sissy was a useless buffoon and getting pelters from all sides. But Poch saw something in him, kept the faith, built his confidence and– very importantly- moved him centrally, away from the wing. I remember commenting awhile back, “Hey, Sissy wasn’t a complete spastic today.” It was something to build on. And he’s grown from Awful, to Not Awful, to OK to now where he’s a useful member of the team.

Everyone loves a redemption arc. Don’t know if it will last, but it’s it’s been fun to watch.

    • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 2:23 am

Heโ€™s a proof that Pochettino is magic you know!
Seriously though moving him central seems key. Itโ€™s a bit like the reversal of impact that Kante has at Chelsea now he has been moved forward out of his usual place. He looks poor now yet he was excellent before. Itโ€™s a funny old game as Greavesie would say

  • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 2:24 am

Do all Americanโ€™s use the word โ€˜spasticโ€™. No worries SSG but itโ€™s a bit shit.

    • SeattleSpursGuy 29/11/2018 at 2:26 am

Ant, spastic is a medical term for a muscle reflex condition which is still in use. It’s not like the ‘n’ word. Although I agree it isn’t in common usage.

Yes I went all the way toToronto Canada to get his autograph. I advised my daughters not to meet strange men they found on the internet and then I go and meet Ron.
Anyway Ron is a teenage girl from Huddersfield whose grandma once went to London and told him stories about the sixties. At least thatโ€™s what he told me.

Don’t you know that it’s time to get on board
And let this train keep on riding, riding on through

  • TCY 29/11/2018 at 7:43 am

The Sissy story is one of love and redemption. Once upon a time, and not so long ago, her indoors, Grandson Andrew and I would chuck beer cans, pork chops, pizza crusts and what have you at the screen when Poch unaccountably sent Sissy on to muck up the last 15 minutes of a game.

And yet here we are. The lad has grown and become a useful member of the squad. Great cut Oeufster and Casโ€”Soultrain be one of my favorites, and Sissy is now like a freight train barreling down the trackโ€”and he can actually pass!

At ease, Steveโ€”nothing is foreverโ€”letโ€™s enjoy Sissoulco while we can!

    • SpurAndy ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿ’ 29/11/2018 at 8:34 am

On Tuesday the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer tabled a question for the Chancellor to answer. But he failed to attend yesterday because ‘he was unavailable’. The night turned out to be a good one!

Disappointed to be surrounded by Italians in the West Stand and I’m sure the amount of “tourists” contributed to the muted atmosphere.
Hardly any singing…and when we did a lot didn’t know the words.

Good to have a couple of beers with Caspurs in Farringdon. Cannot wait for the Barca meeting!

I’ll bring my iPad with the BT Sport app if Flatster can prise the broadband password out of the venue?
That way we can keep track of the Inter v PSV game as well.

    • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 11:53 am

Likewise, was great to meet up with you before the game, and just glad everything was alright on the night. ๐Ÿ‘

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 11:58 am

Excellent preparation, Bruxster. I might have considered something like that, but only after the event.

  • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 11:42 am

We are fortunate that Sissoko is playing well. It couldn’t have come at a more opportune time with injury to Davinson meaning that Dier needs to be CB back up to Toby and Jan in European games (Foyth isn’t in the squad), and Wanyama and Dembele not available, just leaving Winks and Moussa.
Hats off to the former plinth, he’s stepped up and taken this opportunity to be a first choice. Otherwise we’d be looking at Skipp or Dele at DM/CM.

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 11:51 am

If we should get through, can’t we change the squad for the knockout stages?
Looking at the current CL squad, you could easily make a case for putting Foyth in place of maybe Wanyama, Llorente, or even Vorm?
And that’s without all of the amazing new signings we’ll have in Jan ;-D

      • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 11:52 am

It very much reinforces the fact that we must buy English. An expensive problem.

        • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:01 pm

Who though? No one springs to mind, I think the Grealish boat has sailed, along with Maddison.

          • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 12:04 pm

Cook at Bournemouth? We could replace Davies with Chilwell? That would free up an overseas slot.

            • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:12 pm

Cook at Bournemouth? Not for me, we already have Henry Winks.

              • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:13 pm

And Skipp. Must leave space for him to be involved and develop.

          • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:07 pm

It’s quite likely that Dembele and Llorente will be gone, if not Jan then definitely in the summer. Possibly Tobes too, unfortunately.
That will free up some squad space, but all of those players would need to be directly replaced.

            • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:10 pm

Eggzakerly. I’m not aware of any young homegrown talent who could step up to the level we require, that’s not to say it’s impossible, but very difficult..

              • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:13 pm

We are constantly criticised for having a weak squad, but it’s hard to suggest many that I would want to sell, or that are replaceable without paying astronomical sums.

                • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:19 pm

It is a conundrum. If we lose Dembele and Tobes, then I think we have to replace them with quality, I would love to see both the Ajax lads join us, but I know that’s just wishful thinking. : (

                  • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:22 pm

We’ll be well down the pecking order.
Same with Ndombele, who it seems Barca are very interested in.
A reoccurring issue that is very difficult to solve.

        • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 12:02 pm

I guess the scouts will scour the lower leagues.

          • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:04 pm

The theory being, is that they would have to be good enough to warrant a place in a CL squad. That is certainly a challenge.

            • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 12:06 pm

Chelsea hoover up all the young talent. Their youth set up is less a squad and more of a warehousing exercise.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 11:55 am

I believe so. I saw an interview with Pochettino admitting that he had made a mistake leaving out Foyth from the European squad, but I think squads are reselected in the January window.

  • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:17 pm

Interns of the home grown positions in the squad it seems to me having three overseas keepers is a big mistake. The third keeper rarely plays so if a young English player took that spot from Vorm it would be a big help

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:23 pm

Agree. We haven’t had a goalie come through from the kids for a long, long time. Maybe Ian Walker?

        • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:42 pm

Just checked, the only goalkeeper to come through the ranks and actually play for Spurs since Ian Walker was Ben Alnwick in the 09/10 season. He played one game, and conceded four goals.
Before that, it was Tony Parks!
          We don’t make goalkeepers.

        • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:49 pm

So why does he need a squad position for the CL?

          • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:50 pm

I believe it is because he is not homegrown.

  • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 12:43 pm

Will we play Foyth against lucky lucky Arsenal? After what happened to poor old Wimmer I’d let Jan and Toby handle that one and bring Foyth and Dier in for Saints on Wednesday.

I’m also very pleased to see Aurier combining pretty well with Sissoko. They seem to have a decent understanding and both have pace to dominate the right flank.

Considering the lay off and his age, Jan did rather bloody well last night.

      • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:47 pm

        He was superb.

      • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:48 pm

Yes. Looked knackered by the end. But his calmness and sure touch was delightful

      • HD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 29/11/2018 at 12:48 pm

Jan and Toby as so much fun to watch. They know each other so well. They could play blindfolded against most teams. A true partnership.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 12:50 pm

Jan is absolute class, and I want to see him up against the neighbours.

        • Hartley 29/11/2018 at 12:58 pm

He’s an absolute class act, although last night he did look like he’s been spending a bit of time in Greggs during his lay off

          • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 1:05 pm

Who doesn’t like a Greggs pasty or three?

  • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:47 pm

The England U19 and U21 squads (I think it was) won the World Cup this summer. There must be a few promising youngsters we could try an get. I know finding the next Deli or CE is not easy and many of the kids wonโ€™t make it but there is at least a decent pool of players to look at.

    • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:51 pm

Perhaps the strategy shouldn’t be to try and find homegrown players who will walk straight into A CL squad, but rather, be good enough to make our PL team, therefor enabling us to rest players for CL games. Maybe in time these players will be good enough to make the step up to CL level.
      Justa fort?

      • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:56 pm

I still can’t think of many.

        • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 12:58 pm

Dammit, I’m trying my best to be positive here.

      • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:57 pm

Yes. That kinda what I was getting at. Young players are not CL ready but they may be ready for a game against Mid and lower table PL teams.
They can pad out the squad and play if really needed in the CL

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 12:51 pm

Chelsea have most of ’em. And we have quite a few already.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 1:07 pm

Shelved in their warehouse. It stops anyone else getting ’em is their strategy.

  • SpurAndy ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿ’ 29/11/2018 at 12:57 pm

Our U21 squad have two Englishers goalkeepers , Charlie Freeman and Alfie Whiteman plus an Aussie a Belgian and a USAian.

    • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 12:59 pm

What percentage of games over the last two seasons has a third choice keeper been needed to actually play.
I can think of times when they made the bench but never got game time.

      • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 1:03 pm

Gazzaniga played fairly recently (last season I think) when both Lloris and Vorm were injured.

        • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:06 pm

He’s played 6 times this season and last.
Before that, Cudicini got one game as third choice keeper back in 12/13, which wasn’t a PL game.

          • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 1:10 pm

I think some of those games were ones where it was not necessary for the third choice keeper to play. Particularly the cup games.
The recent games Gaza has played were not due to injury to both Vorm and Lloris.
Point being third choice keeper should not take up a valuable overseas player slot.

            • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:13 pm

Yep, 3 of those 6 appearances were PL games, and one was a CL game. These are possibly the only games where we had to play a third choice, although I seem to remember him being chosen ahead of Vorm on one of these occasions, maybe even the CL game.

              • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:15 pm

Hasn’t done bad though, 6 games, 2 clean sheets, 3 goals conceded.

              • Shelfy 29/11/2018 at 1:21 pm

He was acting as second choice. We had Vorm or Lloris on the bench.

                • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:25 pm

                  I think he’s probably 2nd choice now.

                • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 1:26 pm

I could be wrong (there’s always a first time ;p), but wasn’t his debut against palace in the PL last season due to the other keepers being injured or ineligible?

                  • HD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 29/11/2018 at 1:31 pm

You are not wrong. Crystal Palace away. Clean sheet.

                    • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 1:33 pm

Your correct, except we were at home, and we won 1-0. ๐Ÿ˜˜

                    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:34 pm

                      Kinda home ;-D

    • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 1:37 pm

We let a perfectly good one go (in Luke McGee). I’m hoping it’s because one of the ones you’ve mentioned (one of the English/homegrown ones, preferably) showed even greater potential.

Alfie Whiteman (now there’s a proper footballer’s name for you) has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level so maybe he’s the one for the future.

      • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:41 pm

I think there has to be a point where academy products who show potential but are well down on the pecking order have to be let go for the sake of their career.
Think Mcgee was 22 when he left for Portsmouth, so probably needed the move.

        • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 1:43 pm

Yep, if clubs still feel the player has potential, then just insert a buyback clause.

          • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:50 pm

The fact that he wasn’t loaned again suggests that it was a either a club or player decision that he didn’t have a future with us.

            • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:51 pm

I though he was pretty damn good, from what I saw. Not sure how he’s doing at Pompey.

              • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 1:58 pm

He’s their second-choice ‘keeper at the moment. But seeing how Pompey are currently four points clear at the top of their league it’s pretty obvious that their first choice is no slouch.

                • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:06 pm

  • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 1:45 pm

Ant, spastic is a medical term for a muscle reflex condition which is still in use. Itโ€™s not like the โ€˜nโ€™ word. Although I agree it isnโ€™t in common usage.

    Afternoon Chauvs and All,

Excuse me for bringing this up and interrupting the good vibes but I want to just quickly explain this.

I understand spasticity as I have family and friends who suffer from tremors, spasms etc due to MS and Cerebral Palsy.

Itโ€™s not just about the word, it just shows the thinking of those saying it . Spastic was around whilst most of us were at school and I still hear being banded around by cunts who sneer, laugh and think they are perfect.

My son used to be tormented by kids saying this due to his Tourettes and it caused him to hate going to school which he was so happy before. Anyways this is not the case so much now as he can now look after himself but Iโ€™m sure this will continue when he starts secondary school.

Anyway this isnโ€™t just about my friends family, those who use it so frivolously unintentionally at times are part of the problem and for me show a complete lack of empathy for those who are suffering/vulnerable.

    That is all.

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 1:48 pm

      Great shout, Ant.

    • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 2:04 pm

When I saw this word being used so casually on the blog yesterday I had a quick look into its current usage and it seems it’s largely a US/British thing inasmuch it doesn’t carry anywhere near the same level of baggage over there as it does over here.

It’s pretty clear from the follow-up comment made by the original poster that he wasn’t aware of how offensive a term it is on these shores.

      • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 2:07 pm

Not so sure about that Unk, but if this is the case I will happily take it back and apologise.

        • SpurAndy ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿ’ 29/11/2018 at 2:13 pm

Ant totally understand where you’re coming from but I’ve actually met the guy when he visited over here a year or so ago and Im pretty sure he wouldnt mean to insult or upset anyone in using this term. As Unk says I don’t think it has anywhere near the level of upset over there.

          • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 2:33 pm

Ok , fair point Andy, I understand completely the language barrier and Iโ€™ve heard it being banded about in American phrasing outside of its medical term , and used in situations other than being clumsy, and if this was the case in this situation, it maybe would have been easy to say so when I asked him. However hearing you lots take on this and itโ€™s and thank you for the bumf to explain these alternate terms, I will take back what I said and I hope that SSG will accept my apology.

        • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 2:13 pm

“The offensiveness of spastic and spaz differs considerably between the US and the UK. In the United States, the terms are inoffensive…”

My understanding is that, although not in common usage in the US any more, when it is used it’s an inoffensive term that just means clumsy.

          • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 2:34 pm

            I see this now ta.

        • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:14 pm

I’ve no doubt that it wasn’t used to cause offence, Ant, even though it did. As Unk said, it was immediately followed with a promise to not use it again, so I’m happy to accept it for how it appears, a language difference. That’s just my take, mate.

          • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:15 pm

            * to cause offence in the way it did.

          • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:33 pm

But you were right to challenge it.

            • AntSpurs 29/11/2018 at 2:40 pm

Thanks, hot head at times but I see the error of me ways. Was quite sure of meself but at least I hope it will be a little more understood now.

    • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 2:13 pm

I don’t condone the use of any term which offends people living with a condition. I was trying to point out it isn’t just a bad word per se, but an actual word with a genuine meaning in use in the medical sense.

Afternoon chaps, this particular blog could easily be viewed as a bit of a hit job on Stevo and i for one hope he don’t see it that way. Stevo if your reading this we all love you man!
The simple fact is Stevo that most spurs fans including me thought Sissoko was under investigation from trading standards or impersonating a professional footballer.
His transformation this season is still difficult for some of us to get our heads around but it’s true, he is actually looking like a player and is a vital part of the team currently and long may that continue!
I really hope to make the Liverpool St meet up and really hope the you Stevo will be there also, man hugs to all.

Fairy nuff. I’m sure Stevo see’s it as banter, I hope so.

        • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 2:33 pm

The bloeug is only intended as a bit fun (we all like Stevo), with three comments from Stevo, where first he argues his point, then realises he’s on his own, and finally concedes, ‘aw shit! Sissoko is ok’.
If Stevo is offended then I offer Stevo my sincere apologies, but reading it last night was very funny. Speshly the final comment.

          • Sexy Beast 29/11/2018 at 2:36 pm

  • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 2:50 pm

Sarri has allegedly said that Kante doesn’t have the right skill set to play as a defensive midfielder. This after being the undisputed defensive lynchpin first for title winners Leicester and the season after title winners Chelsea. I think the facts speak for themselves.
You don’t know what the fack you’re talking about, Sarri.

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:52 pm

Very bloody strange. He’s easily the best player I know of in that position.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 2:55 pm

If Sarri is another Mourinho, I’m fine with that. Go right ahead and play great players out of position, or not at all.

      • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 2:57 pm

Kante won the world Cup for France in the summer. Not Pogba, not M’Bappe, but Kante.

You’re absolutely right, he’s easily the best defensive midfielder in the world. His positional sense is outstanding and he snuffs out so many attacks before they have a chance to get started. Quite why Sarri’s not playing him in his best position is a mystery.

Pardon me if I’m not ready to jump on the Sissoko express just yet. He’s been (more than) decent the last couple of games but I don’t think the level those performances quite justify the accolades currently being hurled in his direction.

Had he joined us last month his report card would read “a promising start”. It is to his undoubted credit that he stuck to his task when others might have buckled under the sheer weight of pressure, but I remain to be convinced that he can be considered a first-team regular when everyone else is fit.

    • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 2:57 pm

      Even Dembele Unk?

    • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 2:59 pm

I don’t think anyone has forgotten his poor performances in the last two years, it’s more a case of appreciating the turn around, and the contribution he is currently giving to the cause.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 3:03 pm

His decision making has improved and also pass execution. But so has Aurier, so we can probably see the intensive work of our coaches paying dividends.

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 2:59 pm

That’s a fair assessment. He doesn’t make my first 11, but it’s not a bad thing that he seems a bit more reliable when called upon. He offers something that Winks, Dembele, Dier and Wanyama don’t with his driving runs, although Winks seems to be getting the hang of that!

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 3:05 pm

If Wanyama could get back to his form we’d have a good choice, Sissoko currently has the edge. Third choice behind Dier and Winks.

        • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 3:06 pm

I think we should discount Dembele is his mind is on leaving us asap.

          • UnkleTaff 29/11/2018 at 3:17 pm

I’ll be surprised if he leaves before next summer.

Someone who wants to leave shouldn’t figure too highly in team plans.

    Sol’s at it again…..

“I will bring all of my wealth of experience [to this job]. I know football inside out. I know how to manage people. I can communicate and I’ve looked at what I can do at the club. I think it’s a great place for me to start.

“I know some Macclesfield fans will probably be saying ‘what is going on here?’ But you’ve got an international footballer, who has been one of the best footballers in the world, coming to your club. I think it’s a nice mutual balance there.”

    • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 4:50 pm

Dear me. If by managing people he means he is adept at lying, misleading, and treating the fans who loved him with contempt, he’s correct.

    • Sexy Beast 29/11/2018 at 4:50 pm

He is so into himself it is just so ****ing cringe, 10 games and he’ll be gone and there will be some angle to it failing (probably the colour of his skin) that it was just not his fault.
      Complete and utter COCK.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 4:54 pm

An ex-international player with a wealth of memories of being fawned over. Now a has-been, I don’t think he realises he’s as much value as a used condom.

    • foeorfreund 29/11/2018 at 4:55 pm

“One of the best footballers in the world”.

Manager of a team that is in 92nd place in a 92 team professional league system.

“I think it’s a nice mutual balance there”.

Maybe the poor chap has vertigo?

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 4:58 pm

Surely ‘mutual’ is implicit in the concept of balance?
Maybe no one taught young Sol how a seesaw works?

I’ve already served up my veggie Chinese stir fry with black bean sauce.
I use Quorn pieces as the missus doesn’t get on with Soya protein. My gripe with Quorn is they call them chicken pieces. Why would veggies and especially vegans want their mycoprotein to pretend to be pieces of dead bird? Not necessary.

      • Caspurs 29/11/2018 at 8:43 pm

I haven’t eaten yet, waiting for the sauce to absorb all the flavours, but I don’t tend to eat before 8 at the earliest.

Not yet. I haven’t eaten chicken for years. But I do occasionally eat lamb or beef. It’s pretty rare now but I’m not like these militant vegan arseholes. Like my brother.

          • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 8:56 pm

Apparently some vegans invaded a Brighton restaurant to berate the customers, but were nonplussed when the diners started chanting “meat, meat, meat” till they retreated.

210mm, I opened the box to get it out to have a look and I cut myself twice (not surprising I hear you say). It’s the sharpest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ll let my wife use it but I wouldn’t trust myself to.

Woah! I remember a workman died in Wandsworth

    • Fatty B 29/11/2018 at 10:13 pm

I once had to have the water shut off for half a housing estate when I cut through a cold water mains supply with a pipe slice. I had to put in a new kitchen sink and taps and the stopcock was seized open. I made all the new pipework up and connected the taps and thought I could quickly cut through the mains and connect the new pipe to the old with a speed fit straight connector. The pressure blew the rubber washer out of the fitting and some of the skin from my thumb. It was a terrifying experience which left me drenched, freezing and shaking for hours afterwards.

      • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 10:19 pm

I caused a chemical factory and surrounding streets to be evacuated for several hours when I did a stupid thing. I tried to speed things by defrosting ten kilos of a catalyst in an industrial oven.
Yes, it was kept frozen for a reason.

Pure benzoyl peroxide. It needs no ignition source. Trouble is the area housed several thousand gallons of liquid monomers, some of which were chlorinated.

            • Chauvelin 29/11/2018 at 10:32 pm

The joke was, the chief production chemist saw me holding the white crystalline catalyst spread out on a tray by the open oven. He said “for god’s sake, don’t put that in there!” To which I replied ” it’s OK, I’m taking it out”. At which he dashed out and set off the alarms and called the fire brigade.

              • Fatty B 29/11/2018 at 10:36 pm

    • Hartley 29/11/2018 at 11:33 pm

Heโ€™s a fuckin bastard, I knew that someone would suffer from this witchcraft.

      • Chauvelin 30/11/2018 at 12:21 am

If Sissoko wipes out Ozil and tackles him into mid air, he’ll be a good bastard.

Hello lads. Been a bit busy to be on the blog. Thought I would give you all a break. Having read the whole blog I can see we have covered a variety of subjects. I’m just wondering if anyone can tell me what the song about sissoko is. I am so glad he is coming good and when I say good I mean real good. I had to eat a lot of humble pie because of him

    • TCY 30/11/2018 at 6:02 am

Hi Sydโ€”Welcome home. Plethora of ditties about our little Sisโ€”in the back bleachers of Wembley they are singingโ€”

โ€œWake me up before you Gogo
Who needs Bale when weโ€™ve got Sissoko.โ€

Our own Oeufster appeals to a wider audience with this offeringโ€”

    Fatty B

I once had to have the water shut off for half a housing estate when I cut through a cold water mains supply with a pipe slice. I had to put in a new kitchen sink and taps and the stopcock was seized open. I made all the new pipework up and connected the taps and thought I could quickly cut through the mains and connect the new pipe to the old with a speed fit straight connector. The pressure blew the rubber washer out of the fitting and some of the skin from my thumb. It was a terrifying experience which left me drenched, freezing and shaking for hours afterwards.

Iโ€™ve only just woken up after reading that. Cheers for the great nightโ€™s sleep, FB.

Superspoz top tip to all wannabe plumbers:

If you ever have to cut a live pipe, for whatever reason,
    you’ll need one of these.
    Slip it on,turn it off.

If I ever want to cut a live pipe. Thatโ€™s funny.

You’d love my toilet cistern, Spoz. The flush valve stopped working, so I got a new one and tried to install it myself, but I couldn’t undo the bolts between the pan and cistern, so had to bodge the new valve into the old housing by wedging it into position with some cardboard, just above the water level. At least I hope it’s just above the water level, not that I can see it. It seems to have held out these last 12 months or so!

        • Superspoz ๐Ÿ† 30/11/2018 at 12:20 pm

One of my best mates is a plumber.
I’ve been asking him since to rectify “when he gets a chance”.
I should know by now not to tell a tradesman to do something when they get a chance.

No sign of Stevo for his own bloeug?
I think we should send out search parties and scour East Anglia.

    • foeorfreund 30/11/2018 at 12:05 pm

Sorry, but I can’t get involved. I’ve lost friends who have ventured that way before, it’s too risky.

Interesting choices Poch has to make

Yes thanks mate, Iโ€™m back on track ;-D

Are you really FoF or Thomas the Train?

  • Shelfy 30/11/2018 at 1:53 pm

**Breaking News** according to Poch in his latest presser our objective against Arsenal is:

    To win the game

Thank goodness for that. I was worried we might play for a draw or settle for a mild beating rather than a drubbing at their hands.

    • Ronwol196061 30/11/2018 at 1:56 pm

It’s scientific that’s for sure Shelfy… The hypothesis is to score one more goal than the other team. Let’s discuss because the pipes the pipes were calling.

      • Shelfy 30/11/2018 at 2:01 pm

        Pipes can facilitate flow.

  • Ronwol196061 30/11/2018 at 1:54 pm

I’ve just been reading this Do it Yourself blog its great for tips and recipes. We’ve had the greatest week so far in our history and we are inundated with pipes and tape. There used to be a great footie blog right here. Tape that!

    • Shelfy 30/11/2018 at 2:09 pm

I remember a match day program in the 80โ€™s where Glenn Hoddle was being interviewed and part of the discussion was about tape. Specifically whether or not to tape your ankles for a game.
Of course he didnโ€™t mean tape your ankles together, that wouldnโ€™t be very sensible would it? No he meant each ankle individually for extra support.
I have no idea why I remember that particular article other than it made a massive impression on me and impacted my life in incalculable ways.
